How should we play from now on?

I still don’t see Sessegnon as a LB currently but he’ll struggle to game time as a attacking player with the players ahead of him.

Difficult situation for him but we have to find space for him.

All the more reason going out in the league cup is disappointing.

Most could’ve been playing Crawley tonight.

This isn’t what I00% think we should do, but I’m gonna put something a bit left field out there, rather than recycle the same options.

For a start, Sessegnon. I can’t see that he was bought to be an out & out attacker when we have so many other options. Full backs don’t need to be outstanding defenders these days; they need to have good technique and be able to bomb up & down, like Walker/Rose, TAA/Robbo. Sess absolutely has the youth and attributes to play this role. We should be moulding him into it urgently. Rose is done, Davies is a squad player.

Foyth. I disagree with those writing him off. His problem is he’s a CB who probably isn’t good enough to command a star there. Can play RB but not in the rampaging way we’d want. Is decent on the ball though. In many ways he reminds me of Dier circa 2015, at which point Poch converted him to a DM and it worked well.

For me we peaked around the time we had a DM (Dier) that could drop into defence when our athletic full backs (Walker, Rose) went forward. We defended from the front by playing this way, had a clear and obvious style and shape in both attack and defence.

Sissoko and Winks aren’t cutting it. I dislike 433. Rose, Eriksen and Aurier should be finished as first 11 players. On the basis of all that;

Talking about how we should play, we already have found the style.

Against Red Star that is the correct way for us to play with the players we have.

Couple of things though: Bring back Davies instead of Rose, play Ndombele in Eriksen's position, play WInks and Sissoko behind him, and play Foyth or KWP instead of Aurier.

Keep Toby and Sanchez at the back. Gazzanigga in goal. Up front, Son and Kane.
Swap Dele, with Lamela.

We have actually played very well on Sunday, and you just had to remember their fans whistling loudly to get the ref to end the game to realise they didn't have it easy. Gomez and Milner were brought on to hang on. In light of the tonking we were promised, I feel shortchanged by Klopp's side.
