The Top 6 teams have always have had the best players and captains. Think Vieira, Keane, Adams,Terry,Gerrard.
The current crop has some sheite players as their skippers. Almost makes you want to give up your season ticket when you think of some of them.Some are openly hated by their fans, see Xhaka being booed at the weekend or Henderson almost breaking twitter with another sheit performance.
So who is the worst? Here is my Top 6
1. Henderson, sheite player and shocking that he leads a supposedly top Liverpool team. A donkey of note that celebrates goals like he has won the world cup
2. Xhaka, He is actually a very good passer of the ball, just rubbish at other things
3. Ashley Young, This one shows how bad things are for united. A decent footballer but a kant.
4. Lloris, Once a great goal keeper but a liability.Its crazy that Gazzaniga has to see bench time because of him.
5. Azpilicueta - Once a peerless fullback but best days behind him
6. Silva, class class footballer. On the wane but still would walk into any team.

It's weird the way football's gone. No disrespect to Henderson, he's a modern sort of footballer; good athlete, does the basics well.
If you compare him with truly stellar midfielders like Souness, Keane and Robson he looks lumpen and ordinary.

Completely different players. They were more all rounders whereas Henderson functions very well to a specific role.
There aren't many players like those three around anymore. In fact I remember Keane stating Gerrard was the last of this kind.
Midfields have changed when teams started playing three when they don't need to be all rounders but perform specific roles.
However as a captain, Henderson is excellent. Leads by example, model professional, inspired those around him and gives 100%. Players feed off that.

Lloris has been a decent captain, Henderson a very good captain, Silva also done well in his own quiet way and Azpilicueta a fantastic servant that deserves the armband.

They're comfortably better than the rest as Captains, but they're good leaders off the pitch etc but hardly technical leaders.
If you had them captaining the same clubs 10 years ago you'd say they were poor captains compared to the rest of the big 6.
It's just a role that's taken less importance over time, is that because there's less characters nowadays or is less characters a result of this?
