Players or Tactics? Poll

We are terrible right now, that is without a shadow of a doubt.

Our poor performances are down to a combination of things, but I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the dominating factor out of:

- the ability of our players (vote 3 stars )
- the formation/tactics they are asked to play with (vote 2 stars )

or is there a 3rd factor that I've completely overlooked?

If you think the main issue is with our tactical approach to the matches, I'm interested in hearing what specifically you think our players are doing wrong. Do they play too deep? too narrow? Not enough closing down? etc.

It would be physically and tactically impossible for us to play a slower possession game. This Arsenal team has put in the slowest, most lethargic performances I can remember.

We also don't "press" high. We often take up positions high up the pitch, but we certainly don't press. We're static and unorganised. Hence it is so easy for teams to cut us open with one or two passess straight through the middle of the park.

We are pathetic and the blame has to lie at Emery's feet. Other managers are capable of making players with far less ability perform effectively. Emery has our players regressing.

I wanted him to do well but there are no signs of recovery or, most worryingly, direction. I can't see what Emery's end goal looks like. What style and identity is he actually trying to implement?

The squad is better than it's been for over a decade (still not a patch on the top two obviously).

This is poor tactics, while there's always room for improvement in the squad they're operating way below the level they're capable of

Being a vampire and a football manager is taking its toll on him. Not getting his fix of blood blud
He should really be in some Vampire Diaries type series on Netflix innit.

Also the general crapness of the midfield and defence.
The attack needs service

No way is this the best squad we've had for over a decade? This is the worst midfield we've had for 25 years or so.

It's playing that way yes but looking back on our squads of the past 10 years I'd like to see a better one

Midfield is terrible. In fact I would go as far to say that the MF need xhaka in it. We don't have alternatives

None of our MF would get into Leicester team bar probably Ozil as the number 10.

Forget teams like pool, city, chelsea, sours
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs play Winks and Sissoko. I’d say one or more of Guendouzi, Ceballos and Torreira could get on their team depending on formation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If we had a top MF then players like Guendouzi wouldn't be starting get after game. As for Torreira, let's be honest, he isn't all that.

As for Ceballos, he had probably been a bigger flop to date than Pepe
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just want to slate any player whom Ozil could lose his spot to. And no PL manager worth his salt would have Ozil in his side now. He's made it clear he thinks HE runs teams he's on and he won't do as he's told. No work rate = No use in PL these days. Might get into Euro sides but you'll never see him in a different PL shirt. So no, he couldn't get into Leicester's side as I doubt Rogers is part of Mesuts lil pimpin harem, so likely judges the player based on the current reality of him and not the dream babble, youtube exaltation view held by all the loyal Ozil fanboy working girls Mesut be pimpin right now.

5 stars as in ***** are a big part of the problem.
Plus the apparent absence of a decent player development system and miserable talent scouting!

Otherwise, things are just fine!
