Pochettino....

...knew this situation was coming, and that if it wasn’t identified by those above and properly planned for then this would be a season where the team would go backwards, and they would pretty much have to write off their first full season in their new home.

He knew what it would be like as soon as it became clear that the players who were meant to leave were going to see out the final year of their deals as Levy was not going to accept cut price deals for them, or the interest in their services were simply not there from the clubs they expected.

We need a proper DM. Our midfield is non existent.

Yep, teams play through us like a knife through butter, it never used to be like that.

Sandy, have you ever once stopped to consider why Poch is not getting the results at the moment?

You know, the bigger picture, the overall grand scheme of things and current squad situation.

Poch has not become a bad manager over night. Any new manager will have all the same problems Poch has to deal with and there is no guarantee they would do any better under the current set of circumstances, in fact they could even come in and do worse, particularly in the long run.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Billy I should not have to be asking how a team of Internationals have lost to the likes of Burnley, Bournemouth, Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle, etc and failed to beat Watford, Sheffield United, Everton etc.

Stop defending the indefensible.

They are just not good enough, most are now or will be soon ex-internationals, the end of an era we have failed to invest adequately in the squad, in the premier league if you relax for a season the rest will catch up, we sat back for too long

It’s not down to one thing, but a big part of it is we are missing Moussa and Walker big time. Moussa would boss the midfield against anyone, winks and sissoko get bossed by the likes of Brighton , Newcastle and sheff United. And walker gave us a massive pace option

We had the 2 best fullbacks in the league in Walker and Rose they were very important to the way we played, Walker left and has still not been replaced, Rose has deteriorated to the point were he is useless, and we have no back up unless Sessegnon comes good, the DM is the other major issue as you said no direct replacement for Dembele should never have been allowed to happen

Poch didn’t want another fullback as he thinks Foyth is good enough

He signed Sanchez and thinks he’s good enough

He signed Aurier who isn’t good enough for my pub side

He hasn’t won away in ten months

He hasn’t won a single trophy

The football is worse than Mourinho in his last days at United

Players want to leave

Poch sends signals every summer that he might leave

He had a whole summer to sort this mess out. No full back was even linked which is total nonesense

I get why you all love him but he has been found out. He isn’t good enough. He is not a winner.

I think it's abundantly clear that he doesn't get things his own way in windows hence his comments about being a coach more than a manager. Who knows who he really wanted in the summer. What we do know is Levy's penchant for being cheap and buying late, and generally struggling to get deals over the line, or selling in order to reinvest. Maybe Poch settled for having to rely on Foyth and Aurier because he knew Levy wasn't going to get all the signings done in the positions he wanted. He certainly didn't get us a second attacking midfielder, did he?

Anyway, to say that Poch is the one who needed to sort out the mess in the summer is daft. We should all know by now how much control Levy has over matters.

Great article, Automatic!

Here's one for Sandy ..........

"Massimiliano Allegri, another name floated about as a manager Spurs fans would like to see at the club, spent £236m in that same season at Juventus."

Think Levy will go for that?
