Are we going to get one anytime soon? You look at all the possible contenders and they all leave you with more questions than answers. I watch all of them be it Mane (27), Salah (27), Neymar (27), Mbappe (20), Sterling (24)
I don't know who I have left out but I dont look at any one of them and think they will even come close to reaching the ability of Messi or Ronaldo. Thats just by looking at them play. When you introduce stats then its actually not even a debate.

A quick look at each players all time stats and its insane what these 2 have achieved.
Messi has an eye popping 612 goals in 698 appearances for club and 680 from 834 for club and country (excluding club friendlies*)
Ronaldo has 607 from 818 in club appearances and 702 from 980 for club and country (excluding club friendlies*)
I love Mbappe but even given his age and talent I dont think Mbappe will even come close to that.
I feel lately we have been so desperate to see other players take over these 2 and for some that means downgrading their achievements but its funny how when you comb through the evidence even based on current ability with them 2 aging, nobody really stands out.
It will be a very long time until we see a footballer even come close to these 2, very long time.

Nope he is most definitely better than those 2. You can argue he isn't as good as Messi but the reason he is mentioned in the same breath as Messi is because of his stats and records over the last 10 years.

Ronaldo has a lot of attributes Messi does not have, Messi is more dependent on the team around him, Ronaldo is more sheer explosive individual brilliance.

Think you're talking about Rooney mate. Blasts them in from way further out than Ronaldo. Tracks back. Ronaldo doesn't. Can play in midfield, number 10, number 9, quarter back and left back. Rooney has loads of attributes that Ronaldo does not and has done it in more than one continent and not just stuck in his comfort zone in Europe like Ronaldo has. Ronaldo can only attack. Rooney can do everything. He is a better all round player than Ronaldo.

Hard to argue against Rooney being a more complete footballer though. Could play anywhere, up top, in midfield, Ive even seen him in goal. Could Messi play anywhere? Couldnt even leave Barca.
