If getting promoted to the Prem?
Watching MOTD on Sunday I looked at the starting line up for Sheff Utd against Spurs. By and large the same team we faced last season.
No certainty they'll maintain current form and league position, no guarantee by the end of the season they'll not swap with Villa who are much lower down and I believe shelled out a fair bit more on summer signings.
Is there reason to believe, that with the right coach (i.e. MB) at the helm, that the current group of players, with a small number of additions, couldn't hold there own if we were to get promoted?
Do you really need to spend £100m

BPF wasn't good enough but was probably better than we had. He had a fair crack of the whip so actually had the opportunity to shine. Good example.
I played for Sutton Coldfield Town youth when our first team was in the old Northern Premier League. We had some brilliant players and came up against the likes of Mark Walters, John Pender and Bobby Coy. Mark Burke was three levels below me and scoring at will. Very few of my team mates made the first team and not one became a professional.
The %s of success in the professional arena are even less. But as I've said before, you never know until you know....

BPF

He’d already played a number of games season before for us, but he’s actually another good example of playing, getting dropped and then sold, how is that blooding in to help the future?

He wasn't prepared to play second fiddle.

At Leeds.
Is he on the bench every game at Burnley?

No but that's his problem and begs the question why he really wanted to quit ER. I suspect it was a combination of a one finger salute and some extra cash for his piggy bank. Ill advised by his agent too.
He had attitude-related issues in the past.....

Stevie, not sure you’re a great example as you’ve never been younger than 54.

To me its sometimes about the "type" of player you have.
If we got promoted, the 3 key players I would be looking at are Phillips, White (I know, not ours) and Roberts.
Phillips and White are exceptional, young and have so much potential to grow. They make up part of the spine of the team.
Nobody can suggest, partly due to injury, that Roberts is a key player for us. He has shown glimpses, but if he can get a run free of injury, he has all the skill, technique and ability to become a top PL player.
It tends to be players like Bamford, Costa, Ayling, Cooper who struggle when asked to play at the highest level - However, as the OP has said - With the right manager, he can get them to do a job without spending stupid amounts.
As I always say, quality over quantity.

BPF hasn't made the bench in the Premier League yet. Made it for the 1 league cup game when Pope was rested and Hart promoted to start.

Ben whites name is being mentioned as a transfer target for some of the bigger clubs.
Not surprising really when you look at how he has played this year for us.
Personally I think we need to get in there now and offer Brighton a big money deal if... when.... we go up.

Someone on twitter posted that Al Thanis helicopter was in Leeds yesterday and posted its flight path, don’t know how true it is,
