Var is fine, says it's chief ???

VAR chief, Neill Swarbrick, has come out today saying he "gives VAR 7/10" apparently totally ignorant to the masses of criticism HIS system has been getting every week., from just about every area of the game.

I know some people are just disillusion, or are simply unable to accept they can possible do anything wrong, but come on mate, go away and have a long think about it. Perhaps resign while you are at it.

Swarbrick borrowed Diane Abbotts calculator.

You sound very bitter mate about a women who has got on well in life and probably earns 10 times what you do. Never mind fella.

It was a joke based on her known shortcomings in math. As for getting on in life, good luck to her, I am happy with my lot but surprised that you, as a Marxist, judge someone's worth by what they earn.

The problem for these hopeless dinosaurs is that VAR does nothing but highlight how poor they are at refereeing. The technology isn't the problem, it's the same problem we've had for decades - dodgy, low quality refs and the tech is simply magnifying that problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So the incident at Sheff Utd highlighted poor officiating, did it?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which incident?

Think you've misunderstood the point anyway.

These refs are often taking an absolute age using multiple replays and angles only to call a poor decision. Some of these decisions aren't difficult, the blokes looking at the replays are just clueless, it actually helps explain why there were so many poor decisions before VAR - the refs struggle with the basics
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The offside - sorry, at Spurs not Sheff Utd.

Surely it's the technology that is causing them to take so long?

That decision was difficult because they're trying to draw lines on a screen with freeze frame.

In fairness that is a tech problem, the line drawing thing really seems silly and slow. Surely markers by the sides of the pitch can be installed and you then draw a line from one to the other and work back from that?

My comment refers to the multitude of very dodgy calls (pathetically inaccurate calls IMO) that refs have made even after watching clear replays several times.

I don't really agree with you in general about refs - I think they do a decent job and the biggest issue is players trying to con them constantly throughout the fame.

There are some howlers of course.

It's funny, before VAR I would have agreed with you

But now, knowing that they're getting the same slow motion replays we're getting and they still can't make the right decision it really does mean they're not remotely up to standard (IMO)

I think slo mo makes the whole thing so much worse - it completely changes one's perception of an incident.

The other thing that is difficult in football is accepting that two people can view an incident differently and neither be wrong.

I recall the argy bargy over her sending her son to private school rather than the local comprehensive. I vaguely recall the spin the labour party put on it that she had every right to do so while decrying grammar schools for their elitism. Do as I say not as I do mentality that is rife in politics today.
