Our Dilemma

There have been lots of “Poch out" articles on here recently and a few “Levy out" ones too. Bearing in mind where we currently sit in the PL, I can’t really say any of the supporters in either of these camps are wrong, although I personally am not in either camp…..yet!

We are going through a living (football) nightmare. Our results for the calendar year so far have been atrocious and the lack of investment in the team last year and this summer has come home to roost.

I really do not know what the answer is.

If we get rid of Poch, that could prove to be even more disastrous, if Levy doesn’t make the right replacement.

Clearly we can’t get rid of Levy….much as some would like to, but it’s not happening. So the dilemma is “what to do with Poch".

I really wish he had not come out with comments questioning his future before and after the CL final. For me a lot of the problems stem from there. But equally (or perhaps more so) the main problems stem from the way transfers and contracts have been managed (or mismanaged), but we are where we are.

I think we need to give Poch the remainder of the season to get things right and this will mean that Levy will have to back him fully in the January transfer window.

“Getting things right" doesn’t for me include finishing in the top 4, because I think that boat has sailed (although I’d love to be proved wrong).

“Getting things right" will have to involve sorting out the team’s balance and performances and putting together a sequence of victories (home and away) that will show that we are able to challenge for big honours again next season. If Poch hasn’t done this by May next year, then it will be time to pull the trigger…..but not before.

Two league wins over the spanner’s and Bournemouth after the international break and many will cheer up again.

poch deserves our backing until the end of the season in my opinion

let's hope he can ship out some of the players out that clearly don't give a feck in the january window

we need to start winning games tho that's for sure

What do we have at Spurs:

A top class coach who is proven at PL and European level, and who has turned water into wine on a shoestring budget compared to most of his rivals.

A chairman who is an excellent businessman, but so tight he could peel an orange in his pocket, and who has failed to back a succession of managers sufficiently at vital times.

Owners who see us as a business and way of making money, they are not bothered about trophies as long as the pound notes keep flooding in.

Players in the squad who want to be elsewhere and other players who are no longer wanted or not good enough any more.

For me, we back our excellent coach and rebuild. Any new coach will need the very same rebuild, so why not rebuild with the current coach, he has earned the right over 4 or 5 successful years and has proven himself when given the squad to work with he needs.

Players clearly not playing for Poch.
When last was a manager backed over players?
Yes there are a few we can get rid of but its seems like they are infecting the rest of them. I want Poch to turn it around but how often do managers get that right?

Well he clearly is not a top class coach Billy, he has only won six of his last 26 Prem games. I would say that is anything but a top class coach.

Feels like the Poch cycle is over. I would say you've either gotta replace the players or the manager, as the players look tired and uninterested, but I also wonder if Poch has the fight in him to do it again with an overhaul.

Honestly feels like the longer this goes on the worst shape you'll be in when Poch inevitably leaves and all that's happening now is his good work is being very slowly undone.

Of course, this could just be wishful thinking from my biased self, but time will tell.

Billy has got this situation right.
I will add two things:
1. This squad is well capable of challenging for a top 4 spot. It is under performing for reasons that have happened behind the club house doors - I don't know what, there have been rumors, but that is pretty obvious.

2. "Clearly we can’t get rid of Levy….much as some would like to, but it’s not happening." NO!! WRONG!!
Levy & Lewis have to get rid of themselves ....... by selling the club. Hopefully that was one of their long-term goals motivated by the new stadium etc. Unfortunately, given its current league position and performances, its price may not be what ENIC would like. Thus two outcomes are equally likely ATM.......
a. ENIC hangs on to the bitter end and sees the club go down the shuthole.
b. ENIC decides to back Pochettino in January to the tune of north of 250,000 GBP. Leaving Poch with the hurculean task of knocking a squad with 4 or 5 new first team players into shape.

Your guess is as good, or better, than mine!! ..

Sandy....can you read old boy?
Or have you lost your specs?
The squad is underperforming.... that is the point.
It is not a relegation bound squad, but ......that's what it is doing.
and the question is WHY?
Now don't bother with oyur usual stupidities.
Put on your thinking cap ... oh you do have one right? .....
And think. Why?
The answer is not in the roster.
Its in the clubhouse.
