Sibley

Another stunning performance tonight as we steamrollered Leeds 7-1. A hat-trick for Sibley who shone throughout as he has done in every U23 match this season. Bird, Hector-Ingram and Mitchell-Lawson good in supporting roles.

There is clamour for Sibley to get drafted into the first team squad, but is that the best thing for him? When you look at the rise of Tomori, Wilson and particularly Mount there is little doubt that they progressed more quickly by being loaned out to a lower division club than they would if they had stayed at their parent clubs last season.

Under 23 is far too easy for Sibley. Step up or loan out? Dowell played OK tonight but he wasn’t a patch on Sibley. I say send Dowell back to Everton in January and all hail the new Hughesy.

Well he's blonde enough. Yes I thought he could do with league hardening in division 1. Is Nig' looking for someone at Burton.

Step-up for me.
I can't think of a Derby Academy player in recent years who has benefitted from a loan to a lower league. In fact many have been shipped out soon after their experience. Timi Max, who I also rated highly, springs to mind. He did quite well at Swindon, but didnt seem to have the same focus when he came back.
Technically, Louie is too good for league 1 and I don't think there is much he could learn there. I think he would be better learning from Cocu & his team, or possibly a loan to the Continent, like Mount before he came here.
He is far better than Bennett, for instance, so I would loan him out instead and give Sibley his place in and around the squad.

Can Sibley make it? Fooking right get him in the first team. He's a proper playmaker probably as good as Hughes. I'd play him instead of Holmes. He has all the tools, dribbling, passing, tackling, tracking back and great energy. The stand out player a great team.

Fozzie played as a centre half but had little to do. Leeds were awful and it could of been easily 15-1.
Theyoung Rams would have been disappointed to let them get a consolation with the last kick of the game.

I agree. It didn’t harm Hughes to get chucked into the first team. Maybe Bird might be one to loan out to League One to toughen up a bit. Forsyth looks fit enough, I wonder what Cocu’s plans are for him. All of his U23 games have been as centre half. All quiet on Clarke, probably he has gone back to Brighton to assess his injury. Bennett scored a good goal last night but otherwise didn’t stand out. I think he might be finished as a Derby player.

Sibley ripped apart Arsenal in the youth final at the end of last season.
Would love to see him get a proper run out

Bennett is very fortunate that Lawrence and he were in the same boat.
Mel can get away with sacking Keogh, but keeping Lawrence on the grounds that if he got rid of TL he could go to competitor on a free and a pay rise. Hardly a punishment.

But he can't use that if he sacks Bennett so he has to keep Bennett in order to back up his stance.

Hector Ingram with a brace too.

There is no doubt our youth set up is the equal of any in the country.
Bird hasn't done well when given his chances even though he has been excellent for the U23's, so perhaps a loan for him.
Knight has been good as has Buchanan. Obviously Bogle is a real bonus.
Whiitaker has had a sniff but Sibley is the one I want to see in a first team shirt.

We need to get Beilik back in midfield and Fozzie could be the answer if Clarke is out.

I saw the game and was impressed with the skills on display. So were Leeds United. There is a lot of talent and strength in there. Reward for a decent infrastructure and coaches. Fossie looked well in control. Don't know what he'd be like at Championship level? but needs must when the devil drives etc. Should be a good replacement for Clarke who was clogged by our red friends down the A52. But Sibley should be given a sub's outing soon surely, with meaningful time on the pitch - and Hector - Ingrams.

Both Bennett and Lawrence were fortunate and the decision was obviously based on the transfer value on DC' books. A decision most of us would have made I think. And TL is trying hard to repay the loyalty he has been shown. We should capitalise on this. Meanwhile Bennett scored a really good goal last night.

1st team for me.
The difference between mid prem and top championship isnt that much and teams play the same style which is why last seasons loans worked.
But league 1 and league 2 is more "basic" and won't benefit Sibley.
Give him a few 20 minutes and see how he gets on.
