Lukaku decided to Leave in March

"Solskjaer has my eternal respect. He understood me when I said in March that it was time for me to leave England. I have been in the Premier League as an 18-year-old boy, and now I am 26. Solskjaer wanted to keep me, but I was ready for something new."

"I have had a good relationship with trainer Antonio Conte for three years, and I know exactly what he expects of me. The first two weeks at Inter I worked very hard with the group and when my teammates got some rest, I trained individually."

"Thanks to my football intelligence, I integrated easily. We play in a system with two strikers, and that suits me. Anyway, I already knew my team-mates in advance."

For those saying it was a mistake to sell him, he had wanted out way before the end of the season. It also makes some sense of some of his antics over the summer before he left.

Serie A must just be so tough week in week out that they are not able to concentrate on the Europa League. Unlike their Prem counterparts who play in an easy league during at the weekends

You make a fair point FR!

If the ownership knew he wanted to leave as early as March, and the manager told them that he was happy that we let Lukaku go, it’s an absolute disgrace that they didn’t bring a striker in this summer.

A complete and utter disgrace.

Rashford and Martial have really stepped up though and have shown that they are more than capable of producing a moment of magic from the penalty spot.

I agree Rosso. And ole has said on more than one occasion that we're a striker down on where we expected to be. Regardless of how many or few names were on that list, we didn't get any of them.

All down to Ed being incapable of getting deals done. He took way to long over AWB and Maguire.

I have heard this mooted repeatedly and haven't ever had any confirmation. But Ed apparently works on one transfer at a time and one transfer only. And that is the only transfer we are even attempting to complete throughout Ed's protracted negotiations.

Like I said, I've never heard any confirmation on this, but if it was true, it would be absolutely bats hit crazy

Not to defend Ed (his millions can do that) but inter and juve were annoying with their transfer behaviour, leaving it to the last minute. If he didn't leave and we added another striker it would have been the complete opposite of Oles intentions this year.

I kind of think it was a blessing in disguise. Every young player who needed the constant stream of games and by the end of this season, Martial and rashford will benefit so much from these games. James and Greenwood would be behind in their growth with us. League positions will definitely improve eventually but it does not matter to me at the moment. Real team development is what's important to me. A style, complementary players without overpaid passionless players. The rest will come.

Redast, I think our issues aren't helped by being the only league to close the window early. A stupid decision, considering the others aren't closed.

We do need better players and quality, even when youngsters have been taken into account. We lack them up front and in MF. We don't even have enough backup options and end up with round pegs in a square hole. We are in a rebuild but we need better people making the signings as we're too slow or do not put things into place so we can make one thing happen after another.
