Looking for positives......

I wonder whether Spurs' level, slightly below the dominant teams, might suit Jose a bit more.

At United there was massive expectation, brought about not only by Jose's reputation but also by the amount of money available / spent.

At United and Real he was at a club at the very top of the tree. Where expectations are sky high, his inability to achieve the heights demanded left him extremely defensive. His ego kicked in and he started to make excuses, get angry and lose it rather than perhaps facing up to his deficiencies.

At Spurs, there will be an expectation to get results and be challenging but not the extreme pressure on other clubs. Jose's greatest successes have been when he's not been under that huge level of expectation. He took Chelsea from a very decent competitive team to serial winners, in his short time at Inter he did something similar, and he developed the Porto side that also defied odds to win the UEFA Cup and UCL. It was notable at CFC Real and Utd that after initial success, after the expectations grew higher, it all starts to unravel.

May be at Spurs there will be the environment where that positive, charismatic Jose can return and the toxic negativity that has followed him in his last few jobs will not be so prevalent (at least not for now)

Also at United there was clear division between him and the Board. I put this down to poor leadership at the top (Woodward). It seemed utterly bizarre that they'd give him a new deal in the same summer as vetoing his transfer picks as he tried to build on a 2nd place finish.

Levy is a very strong leader and Jose will be left in no doubt, as he takes this role, what is available to him and how it works.

Grasping at straws maybe. But i think we have to give this a chance to be successful and see whether Jose has evolved, learned from past experiences and mistakes and takes this opportunity to relaunch his career. He certainly has a winning attitude and great pedigree and i believe this is what has seen him appointed over some of the other risky options. We have seen with Poch that a sound philosophy will not always win you trophies, or even games. After a while, whatever Poch was preaching must have started to ring hollow, with no trophies (ever) and, latterly, few wins to back it up.

The overriding fear is his style and tactics. He does seems to have been left behind and perhaps no positivity can gloss over this. We'll see!

I'm devastated Poch has gone, imo he should of had this season for rebuilding but Levy has facked him over by not getting rid of players that needed to go and not signing enough replacements. We owed Poch this season.

However that's by the by now, I do see the positives of Jose and his winning mentality. If we get the Porto/Chelsea/Inter Jose then it could be a master stroke by Levy. If we get the toxic Jose then Levy needs to be accountable and we're all up sheet street.

Yep and tactics suited for each opponent. I got the feeling Poch had same tactics for Burnley than he did for Liverpool away

there are quite a few positives tbh but end of the day poch should still be our manager. need to move on now and accept it. werent exactly stand out candidates and mourinho does have that mentality and hopefully we see the old him at spurs and he can put together a good tenure with some trophy success.

We won’t.

Getting boring now...

We get it, you idolised Poch. But he's gone now. Time for a new era.
