I think it may be a calculated risk taken by Levy. A desperate attempt to not lose the value in Eriksen, Jan & Toby.

Could Jose give them reason to stay? If so, then the £45m contract would be worth it.

A good manager like Mourinho would spend the money wisely. Also he will attract better players than the previous manager, much higher standing in world football.
