Penalties

No doubt Arsenal concede the most penalties in Europe let alone the PL. I’ve not seen any stats but don’t need to. There’s a penalty conceded every game. It’s been an issue for a good half decade at the very least.

So already you need to score two goals from the start because a penalty will be conceded. This is so counter productive. With Gendouzi and Toriera I really did think this issue will be resolved but it really hasn’t. A systemic change is needed, which means a new coach is needed. Under a good system these players will be much better. Their international performances is proof. I personally don’t think there’s a host of changes to the squad required. If I’m honest, a very good CB and a midfielder to replace Xhaka are the only changes needed for the players. The coaching staff however needs a overhaul.

One good CB and a good GK (which we have) with a good defensive system is what this team requires to be steady. We have Torreira and Gendouzi who I believe are good enough to keep the defenders safe from attack. But again it’s the system that’s the problem.

I think its very hard to argue that fouls and pens are not given far more against us than for us. Today their penalty was very soft and we should have had one. There were a number of other fouls we didnt get but they were getting far softer ones.

There will always be a higher risk of conceding penalties for a side that's programmed to delay all their tackling until the opponent gets into the box.

That being said, the number of cynical professional fouls that we've started conceding in midfield is encouraging. Warms my cold heart to no end.

Arsenal never get pens either! Just 1 pen all season in all comlettions! I wonder if we'll ever get a pen anytime soon.

Let be honest we would never have got that pen away from home. If that happened at Anfield no way in hell that ref would point to the spot.

Look at the Arsenal game at Anfield we got battered yes but Pepe was clearly pulled in the box by Van Dyke similar to the Salah Luiz shirt pull. One gets given and replayed over and over and the other is locked in the vault.
