Decent start to Mourinho`s career

as Spurs manager. An away win after months without one is not to be scoffed at, now follow it up with back to back wins, and I will be a very happy bunny.

Overall performance was decent, but the last 20 minutes the team reverted back to type, and the sort of panicky last part of a game we have seen so many times this season. The team barely seems to be last an hour this season before running out of steam. The defence looked poor that last part of the game, but the whole of the midfield also vanished, thus the ball just kept coming back. I am sure the manager will have seen that and will rectify the obvious weaknesses.

So, who will Jose buy in the next two transfer window? Fairly obvious money needs to be spent on the defence, just one clean sheet in the Prem this season, which means that Spurs have to score at least two every game if they are to win matches. Not sure which players are available, but I think at least a commanding CB is needed to really get on top of the real weakness at the back, and that is the defending of set pieces or any high balls into the box, the amount of goals Spurs concede from high balls just pumped into the box is unreal.

Having said that, I would try to keep an unchanged defence for the game against Olympiacos midweek, and tell the defensive midfielders to get hold of the ball, when the defenders do clear it, but it only goes to the edge of the box. Too often our midfielders are just ball watching, instead of being first to the ball, when the ball comes out. You need out outlet, and they have to be that outlet.

Important game midweek, so need to make sure there is no slip up, a draw or a win should seal qualification to the knock out stages, shouldn`t be a problem, but need to be at it from the off. Probably play an unchanged side, not sure if any of our sicknotes are available, Spurs really do have lots of those.

Yesterday I was actually excited and couldn't wait for the match. Probably a combination of new manager and the fact that it was José tbh.

Sadly haven't felt like that this season since the Arsenal match. But he really needs to instill a mental toughness into the defence and get them well drilled and we should be ok.

Would also like to see GLC integrated into the team and cut Eriksen out completely. Hopeful that he won't him off Sessegnon and can develop him. Believe he can be a real weapon for us.

Wonder when Hugo is back will he automatically reclaim the No1 jersey as I really have no confidence in Lloris at the best of times.

Can't wait for Olympiacos in midweek either.

Good win. That's the toughest out of the 3 games we had coming up, although the Bournemouth game smells very much of banana skin.

As far as sales and bringing players in, we don't know how much money will be available and who Jose really wants to keep. I imagine we'll still be getting rid of Eriksen though and I would hope another RB will be on the list. We know he rates Dier but he was poor yesterday and I don't know if he can reach a top quality standard. Someone like Fernandinho at City is streets ahead in that role.

The little money Levy will make available needs to be spent elsewhere, not on a replacement for Lloris, who is a top GK, albeit he does make the odd gaff.

Gazzaniga is doing well and should be first choice even if both are fit and available right now.

I think Gazzaniga is one of the few plusses so far. He looks really, really decent.

Hopefully another historic moment will follow this coming week, back to back wins.

Quite right .... in fact 2 CBs needed.
And Dybala!
And a couple of realy good wing backs.
Think Levy will cough up for that lot?

Letting in 2 goals in the last 20 was abominable.
Mourinho has got to do something about that!!
