Watching that made me realise and accept that the re-building job is going to take years rather than months. The 'soft mentality' of our team runs throughout the club and will take a good manager years to fix - it is 'institutionally' rotten.
We don't understand the basics of football: marking your man; not letting them turn; not letting them get the cross in; putting them under pressure so that you can benefit from their mistakes and of course taking advantage of any lucky bounce/mistake to get yourself in the lead and then to hold on. That is what a decent manager who can organise a team will go and do first of all.
Tonight we were saved by Leno - the problem is with the midfield and defence as we all know but then on top of that where is our 'creativity'? Who in our team has a 'football smart' brain? When are our players ever on the same wavelength? What on earth is going on - we were outfought once again. I don't care if we lose if I see proper fight.
Can't get the BASICs right.

Yeah a few others will start waking up to that fact too now OP. So hopefully the full time replacement when he's found, might actually be given those years and some real support from fans. Instead of being hounded out in months because he didn't instantly return us to the CL.
Welcome to REALITY. Please show other sleepy young Gooners the way to the WAKE UP AN ENTER door you just came through.

OP ... You only noticing this NOW? As a total neutral, Arsenal have looked like a totally soft touch, nicey nicey club for a VERY long time. Shame, as I really enjoyed watching the Gunners in their peak years under Wenger.

I noticed it about 5 - 7 years ago but with the departure of Emery - I can see with Freddie's line up that somebody needs to deal with this 'cosseted' mentality and we as fans have to accept that we'll be scrapping to be any near the top 6/7. We just have to adjust our expectations otherwise we'll go mad.

Arsenal need a manager that will be brutal with them. Ship out or move to the reserves anyone he doesn’t see adapting to his new style.
Been too nice for too long letting mediocre players have far too long to show improvement that never comes

Absolutely! For so long they have been mollycuddled and excuses made. They would never get away with such mediocrity in any other club. I like the word brutal because that's what we're missing.
I can't stand it the way our players are always checking on fouled opposition players etc.
There is a real lack of that winning mentality.
