Woodward told fanzine United We Stand: "Decisions are made at different points in time when there are many factors considered."
"It's a multi-year squad evolution analysis. It's hard enough to get three players done (in a transfer window), to get six or seven done is extremely difficult if you're getting proper talent."
"We did it in one year, but if you choose to churn every player because they're not good enough because you're not extending contracts, you're putting yourself at risk of execution."
"Sometimes you have to take a broader view. Some might break back into the first team, some might be squad players, which you need. It's a combination of different things."

So we have had all this deadwood because Ed thinks getting rid would risk execution? When is he going to realise this policy hasn't worked?

The mistake with Jose was hiring him in the first place
Just another example of the fantasy football Ed has been playing at the club these last 6 years
Theres never been a manager that hasn't made mistakes.
The issues of the last 6 years all stem from a clueless CEO allowed to indulge himself by equally clueless owners.
So back to the issue of the OP
It's a fackin insult to every utd fans intelligence to hear this cant talking about "multi year squad evolution"

Even at the height of his managerial powers Jose was never a utd manager
A utd CEO realky should know why particularly if they are then going to start talking sh!!t about multi year squad evolution

Sanchez was an Ed Signing, Jose wanted the guy at Inter. Fred was a player Jose didn't want. LVG has said that he couldn't get his first, second and sometimes third choices so go in 4th and 5th choices. You want to appropriate blame, that's fine. But don't appropriate signings to Jose (who has plenty of issues himself here) when they're on Ed's head.

No club gets EVERY player they want.
We all know that clubs identify 3 or 4 targets, because of this very point, so why are we surprised when disgruntled managers use this to excuse their poor performance?
