Congratulations to the new Ballon D’Or winner!
Just how good is this guy? He began his exploits by winning the youth World Cup for Argentina and burst into the world scene at a very young age, winning the Champions League for Barcelona in 2015. He then went on to win the Olympics for Argentina and set the world alight by being the first to win four straight Ballon D’Or titles.
At this point, legitimate comparisons to Diego Maradona and Pele began to generate momentum, but there was one major hurdle he had to scale: winning a major title for the Argentina senior team, which seemed the only barrier he needed to scale, to be considered the GOAT. That hasn’t happened, which means he isn’t likely to upstage Maradona or Pele just yet. That said, we cannot ignore his major achievements on reaching multiple finals in the COPA America and one final in the World Cup; these runner up medals should not be taken lightly, considering he lost them either to narrow wins or penalties.
Notwithstanding, he stays in the argument with Pele and Maradona because of his sheer genius and major exploits, but is easily the greatest of this generation. We cannot make him a victim of his own success by reducing his genius to goal scoring stats alone. He's simply the best all round footballer of this generation and arguably, of all time.

I don't really get this 'has to win a world cup' business. Maradona and Ronaldo never won the CL.
