my take on last night

thoroughly enjoyed the game last night, and other than taking 45 minutes to get out the car park and 3 hours to get home the day in general... anyway, onto the game.

First time at old trafford this season, and have to say it was the noisiest ive heard it in a long time, the crowd were fully up for the game and id say so where the players.

Good start and an early goal, and for the majority of the first half we were fully in control.

Rashford on any other day could have notched 4 had it not been for a superb save from the keeper and a free kick that only just missed the target.

Fred again, other than a few misplaced passes had another decent game, he works hard for the team and makes some crucial interceptions.

How much have we missed Mctominay....man of the match for me... never thought he would amount to anything other than a bit part player when he broke into the first team but for me has to currently be the first name on the team sheet.

thought Jesse did ok, worked hard, a couple of nice touches but is knocked off the ball far to easily.

there were a few negatives though, one being pereira who was poor when he came on.

the other is the short goalkicks.. i lost count the amount of times we gave the ball away cheaply and put ourselves under pressure doing this.

overall a good result but just as importantly a good performance

We have some utter effwits on here who keep stating that Ole hasn't improved anmy players in his time here.

Well McT is one that he has for starters. I would say Fred has improved as well.

Exactly. People are not seeing the improvements Ole is bringing. Fred, McT, Williams, Greenwood, Martial being more consistent are few examples. I don't think most other managers would have done any better with this squad and injuries we had.

Interesting to see what happens when Pogba comes back.... does Fred get dropped? does Pogba play in the #10 role?

Ole's going in the right direction for me... He gets zero sympathy for some terribly timed injuries to key players... I know he is partly to blame for lacking quality back up, but the whole season has seen one or more of Martial, Pogba, McT and Shaw out.

My guess is he will drop Fred and continue this Pogba in a midfield two nonsense.

I would rather see a midfield three of McT, Fred and Pogba, with Pogba much further forward.

I don't think ole would be that daft. But I think Playing Pogba upfront could cause Ole some problems.

McT is now out most important midfielder, he's been excellent. Hopefully pogba back soon too, and we should look better.

Who are you, and what have you done with Baz?

I think he will be loyal to fred when pogba returns and you will see that midfield three

Pogba as a ten doesn't seem to be what Ole wants but he may sacrifice that to get all 3 in. On paper they're put best three.

There’s no way he’s going to a midfield three unless we see a couple of injuries up top and he has to use the diamond.

I think the only way you get the best out of Pogba is left of a midfield 3 and pushed a little higher.

I don't think he is effective in a midfield 2 or as an out and out #10.

This has been known since ancient times.

Nomadic hunter gatherers would teach their offspring the secrets of fire-making, of how to stalk deer, and that Pogba is best deployed on the left of a midfield three in front of a centrally stationed holding player and an energetic B2B player.
