Here's how I see it.This goes back to Arsene. Yes,he was a genius and we will be forever grateful for all he did..but..He inherited a defence with a mentality of steel. He added the flair and creativity that gave us the sexy football. He trained his players to 'express' themselves,and have fun! Great!..until the defenders and midfielders needed replacing.The replacements never had that inbuilt steel,and they became a bit too soft,nice and unfocused. Even this was okay when we had players of amazing skill. Players who could get out of bad situations with footballing magic.Now,we have decent players,but they all buy into this 'nice' soft and unfocused way of playing. It's not that they don't try,or don't care,it's just in Arsenals DNA now. Remeber any new signing's debut games over the past few years? From Xhaka to Kolasinac and back to Arshavin.They all looked fierce and focussed - at first..soon they were worn down by the mentality of the club. Oh sure,they would be different animals for their country,or after they left us ( Gnabry anyone? ). Emery was a good choice. He tried to change attitudes,and for a while it seemed to be working. But soon they fell back into their old ways,and Emery had no chance. This malaise has been here for almost 2 decades now,and it will take a very,very strong character to fix it.Don't waste your time blaming player X or formation Y,it goes deeper,much deeper.

You all said a better manager would do better with the players in this squad. Emery came and did much worse. Same with Freddie now. If Wenger was as bad as you said then even a half decent manager should have got top four this year and last.
Remember Wenger was getting top four with useless players like denilson bentdenr etc. Imagine we had those players with Emery or Freddie. We would be 20th no doubt

Emery was clearly the wrong man for the job. Just because the board made a bad appointment doesn't mean Wenger was doing an adequate job.

Yep. And also when David Dein left. Wenger provided the magic,Dein kept everything solid and stopped things going down the pan. Once he was gone Wenger took over everything and his weaknesses were exposed. Too nice, too loyal and too damn stubborn. Kronke was happy to take the 4th place dividend and never gave a toss about the club or the fans.We need a total reboot from top to bottom, or at least a coach who will scare the krap out of this shower!
