CHO

If/when are we going to see this guy back in the team? A bad injury, bumper new contract and the arrival of pulisic seems to have really knocked him. Even in the little bit of game time he is getting he doesn't look that same dynamic confident player we saw at the end of last season. And if the reports linking us with another winger are true plus a Willian contract extension, where does that leave him?

The problem imo is expectations on CHO that are probably unrealistic. And i think every Chelsea fan including me is probably guilty of unrealistic expectation with CHO at some point.

The hype went through the roof for a variety of factors. Our hopes to see a young player come through, frustrations against our older first team wingers, the Bayern interest, the massive new contract, being called upto to England. It’s created a false perception that CHO is one of the elite young teenage wingers in Europe. As in Sancho/Mbappe level. If you view him atbthat level yes he isn’t good enough.

But if you view him as a good young winger, with flaws that will probably be ironed out, like a lot of young wingers. And you see his potential as being a goodnPL level player, he’s fine. This is more close to the truth for CHO.

We'll soon see Callum competing with the likes of Sancho, once he's in optimal shape physically and mentally back where he belongs...at the top.

Creme of the crop, amongst our academy players.

I don’t understand your article to be honest jp. Considering the injury, depth in position etc he has actually played a fair bit since coming back, even started a game or two? Did you expect him to play more?

Tbh whenever he has played he has been poor as well. Gonna reserve judgement but to give him that contract before even having half a season in the league looks naive

Going to agree with Nick, but, as for that contract ,it's a win win situation for Chelsea as well,we can't fail to make a profit whether he stays or goes at some point.

At least we've got a manager that is level-headed and understands, amidst the fatuois judgements from some of the fanbase.
All that matters to me.

Same way Frank has managed to extract the best from Pulisic with brilliant management, will apply to Callum.

We’ll see, it would be good to see. Although that’s what I currently think of CHO am well aware that at 19 things can change massively for him, and perhaps/hopefully he will reach another level. You certainly can’t ignore how dominant he was at academy level

Yes to be honest I expected him to be starting pretty much every game to be honest, I thought him and pulisic would be the wide me most games

Oh okay then. I think with Willians form it’s hard to justify cho starting every game. He still looks very rusty too. He will start to feature more with Fa cup season coming up and things

And through that malaise of events fans have forgotten his age. not every player breaks through at the same stage/age in their career.

At the moment he looks way off the required level of a Chelsea 1st team player. that could change in his next game, or it might take him a couple more seasons, who knows.

He definitely has the potential, but atm he has not shown enough to be starting for Chelsea.
