Arteta vs Ljungberg

What is difference between them? Both were assistant managers, both inexperienced, both former Arsenal players. Only difference is one was working with Emery and other one with Pep. Is board thinking they will get in Arteta younger version of Guardiola, just because they worked together? I'm not against Arteta, maybe he will turn out to be great manager but I'm just curious based on what are board thinking Arteta is reday for this role and Freddie isn't.

A lot of players and managers talk very highly of arteta.

Thought he did a decent job for us. Far better player than the likes of xhaka and co

This is my view aswell. If anything Freddie has more experience with being the head coach of the under 23s. I just can’t believe we are allowing Ancelotti to go to Everton. It seems being peps assistant is Artetas pass to becoming our coach with some fans. This is a monumental risk. He’s going from working with worldclass players to mediocrity and players with massive egos that play when they feel like it.

Concerned whether Arteta will command the same sort of respect from the players as someome like Ancelotti would get.

I do think certain players like Lacazette and Auba can cause divisions.

Freddie doesn't have the balls or tactical appreciation for the job. His first reaction was to bring back experienced players who Emery had discarded. After that backfired he brought in youngsters. When that didn't work he blamed the directors. Big Dunc has been played a similar hand but hasn't complained and just got results.

Arteta was liked by Wenger and has worked under Pep. So he should have some idea of management, coaching and tactical application. Whether he can manage the huge ego's in the dressing room will be a test. Emery pretty much failed that by appointing Xhaka as captain through a vote without any comprehension of his lack mental strength. When that blew up on the pitch it also split the dressing room. I wonder how Arteta will handle that.

Our current team make some ex players who were average look world class.
Cygan Stepanovs Senderos Squillachi
Flamini Eboue Denilson Hleb.

Arteta has a fairly easy job at City
If he comes to Arsenal he will be exposed

I dont see him improving the pile of pants at the back.
The whole team have to help out at the back.

The work rate is poor

It's the players that are the problem. Half just aint good enough, a quarter are bang average and the rest are decent at best. You can't polish a terd. Can't see it being a quick fix but to introduce a rookie manager mid-season with that squad is simply asking for his confidence and the belief of the players and fans to be crushed before he has enough time to truly make a difference (a pre-season, a couple windows).

I agree with you here. One if not both will be gone in the Summer anyway.

Have no problem with Arteta, I have no doubt he will be a great manager. Very good reputation in the game, why do you think Pep has had him so close when he could basically have anyone

I want both Freddie and Arteta to succeed, but nothing about either man tells me they can set up a defence.

I'm much more concerned with who they bring into their backroom staff.
