Should be a good match. I expect your U23s to approach it with the enthusiasm of youth. We have to match that; if we do, should win no trouble, but sometimes it's difficult for players to summon up enthusiasm for a competition which is often viewed as a distraction.

However, I think Dean Smith will be up for this. It'll be our reserves but our reserves are basically pretty good. Looking forwards to it.

nobody at villa can afford the headlines of losing to a bunch of kids and rejects. at least 3 of those who will play tonight are basically seeing out youth contracts before being released.

can you imagine the headlines Smith would have losing to our dregs.

I think Villa May put a decent side out. It’s basically a bye into the semi’s, surely they won’t take any chances with that?

you would think thier manager needs every bit of good will he can get.

I would hammer lfc youths if I were him and hope he can avoid being tired at the weekend. cos again it's not really a winning situation for him.

beat us with half of firsts and lose at weekend and he will get it in neck too.

its never easy when in a tight battle at the bottom.

if they don't win by 5 or 6 he's on a lose.
if someone gets injured. ditto.
if they lose at weekend ditto.

I'm sure if they put out their u18s as well he'd still make someone unhappy.

If villa put majority of firts team it could.get ugly. If they send reserved out it could even it out a little but I would expect villa still to go through.

Our reserves did fine. There's some good skills amongst the Liverpool youth, but we are a professional PL side. In the end we were comfortable winners.

Nice to see Kodjia back to his old self. Hope he starts at the weekend; he gives us a dangerous edge up front.
