NDombele

where do we stand on this guy?

whole thing looks like a spurs special right now.... break our transfer record for a player who seemingly cannot play a game of football without looking like hes falling apart, and seems injury prone too.

Has shown in glimpses a level of ability unmatched by any of our other CMs, but I'm growing increasingly worried that he doesn't really seem to be in the plans at the moment, and its not just under Mourinho... as Poch also had him on the bench for a good few games when fit and available.

Thoughts?

This is why you buy when the team is performing well - so players are allowed a bedding in period ( what what ever the reasons are).

Look at Fabinho and Keita at Liverpool - took a while for them to adjust and bed in - now one of them is by all accounts the first name on the team sheet and the other starting to come good.

We literally waiting until the squad was creaking before investing and needed the guys to hit the ground running.

It’s amazing though, that we buy three players (sess, GLC and Ndombele) and they’ve all had significant injury problems - all for various reasons (Sess even turned up injured - just so typical

Depends on what part of Yaya’s career your talking about. For example at Barca he was an anchor. At city he was more traditional box to box.

I thought when I seen NDombele for Lyon he was similar to Essien. But in the games he has played he seems to be more attack minded than having strong defensive qualities. His career goals and assists show he is more defensive minded.

I don’t know tbh, still a bit of an enigma but there is definitely the makings of a top player there if he can get to the desired level of fitness the prem requires.

He’s decent defensively but it’s not a strength of his, plus his nonchalant running style is more like yaya

His passing and dribbling is similar but he doesn’t have yaya’s goal scoring ability

Essien was more of a box to box powerhouse

Essien was a great player. No doubt though he had it good with Makélélé for a few seasons at Chelsea next to him or Appiah for Ghana.

Patience. His time to shine is coming...

It is classic Spurs that he isn’t fit.
From what I’ve seen, he is what we are screaming out for. This makes it all the more frustrating.

This. Fabinho didn’t play for months at all when he moved to Pool.

Also rumours we might make Lo Celso permanent in January, pinch of salt obviously but Betis need the cash asap and we could save a few quid by bringing it forward.

Here's a rumor for you all .......

"Tottenham Hotspur's senior players urged manager Jose Mourinho to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore after the 23-year-old Spaniard impressed against them at Molineux on Sunday."

Now that IS a player we could use!

I don't think he's good enough. He's one of those who is an absolute world beater on his day, should be able to do it week in week out, but doesn't. He's been maddeningly wasteful at least as often as he's been unplayable, like an amplified Aaron Lennon.

This is definitely the biggest purple patch of his career though so maybe Nuno has broken through to him.
