Reading 3 - 0 Derby County

Reading v Derby County
1500
Madjeski Stadium
Reading
21 Dec 2019

Uppermost in our minds is the woeful away form as we look to achieve something not achieved since the first match of the season - and didn't we look good in the first half in that match?

So, all to play for or not, slow stability or instant gratification? Twist or bust?

Bielek and Marriot are better, so should feature. Keogh is out as is Huddz. Where is Anya? Time for the U23s?

Will Backo or Baz comment on this thread? Will 2W regale us with ....well just regale us? Will Ang's tablet hold up? Will Scouse take time off from his Momentum duties? And will I have something substantive to write about? Will Vidal acknowledge me next home game or just give me a wry nod as he hurries past?

A very Happy Christmas one and all - to the 606 fraternity

Team news:-

Hamer
Forsyth
Bielik
Waghorn
Lawrence
Martin
Holmes
Davies (C)
Bogle
Knight
Malone.

Subs: Roos, Wisdom, Dowell, Marriott, Lowe, Sibley, Whittaker.

I get that VC10 n I admit this is torture at the moment.

The injuries for me are the biggest concern though, Cocu has rarely had our best players available, Keogh included. Had he not been a div, Huddz stayed fit, Clarke not been assaulted, JM been properly fit, Shinnie not got crocked n Bielik not had his niggles along the way. I don't think it'd have clicked but think we'd be in a far better position.

I have come to the conclusion that Cocu hasn't a clue what to do now. Even when Nigel Clough's team of bargain basement journeymen were at their weakest we managed to score a few goals and have a few clean sheets. I would say even in this team's depleted state, there is more ability than NC had for the bulk of his time at PP. So why can't Cocu find a way of attacking to score and defending to prevent the opposition scoring.

It's all very well some saying we didn't play that bad because the record book will say otherwise. Were I in Mel's position I would give him 10 more games but I think Mel will have a lower number than that before he pulls the trigger. Here's hoping for a turnaround but I feel it's a wait in vain.

Spart, I’ve just looked at Nigel Clough’s first full season in charge, 2009/10. He had also had half of the previous season. At this stage of the 2009/10 season we had just lost 2-0 at home to Doncaster and we had scored 9 goals in the dozen games leading up to it. We were 18th in the table. Clough had inherited players like Hulse, Commons and Green and we had Bywater in goal and Barker and Leacock at centre half.

We got battered 6-1 at Cardiff and I clearly remember the 4-1 home drubbing by Scunthorpe just after New Year when I was very low and the vast majority of fans on the old 606 were incandescent and demanding Clough’s head. It was hard to argue for a stay of execution, though I did. Form improved, the one-nil home win against Forest when Hulse headed in Commons’ cross was crucial and we just avoided relegation.

If you were Mel what would the answer be after you get rid then Spart?

Man Utd fans sounding equally desperate, why us they ask, as if they were so hard done by....daft skunts.

What position's Pearson playing Hughes in????

Can you believe it, Watford have beaten Man U and now have 10 points. Looks like we can keep our record for another year.

And the lovely Will played the whole game.
