Teams for two matches

With the next two matches so close together and Rodgers already stating his concerns about recovery time, does the team selection for Liverpool need to be made with West Ham in mind? Or should we go all out for the first match on Boxing Day and take it from there?

I was thinking the following:

Schmeichel
Ricardo, Evans, Soyuncu, Fuchs
Ndidi, Choudhury
Perez, Tielemans, Albrighton
Vardy

Giving the team some defensive cover against Liverpool’s dangerous full backs and also a team that can press with energy.

Then:

Schmeichel
Justin, Morgan, Soyuncu, Chilwell
Ndidi
Gray, Maddison, Praet, Barnes
Iheanacho

Giving more attacking options.

I can’t help but feel that playing the first team against Liverpool and the remnants against West Ham will just end up producing two unfavourable results.

Don't change the formation to Puelball for Liverpool, keep it as 4-1-4-1. So Liverpool:
Schmiechel
Ricardo Evans Soyuncu Chilwell
N'didi
Perez Maddison Tielemans Barnes
Vardy
and West Ham
Schmeichel
Justin Evans Soyuncu Fuchs
Choudhury
Gray Praet Maddison Albrighton
Iheanacho
with judicious use of subs after say 60 minutes for key players if/as required (probably Tielemans for Maddison + 2 from Chilwell, Morgan, N'didi, Barnes, Vardy depending on the circumstances pertaining).

Pool will come for a draw to nullify any gain on our part. We do not need our best team to beat west ham!

We will win against both...... BR will want to beat pool as they did sack because someone fell on their ar$e

Lost 6-1 to Stoke though.

Lots of games in a short space of time are difficult for teams like Leicester abd actually favour teams like city and liverpool.

Liverpool can use the squad and rest players while Leicester cannot...Vardy as a the time for example and runs the risk of injury. Fatigue wilcatch up with Leicester imo as they ay the core of that team all the time.

Leicester have played much fewer games than us this season and we've still go more to play left than they do.

He has to go 3 at the back as Darren Fletcher says and basically match Liverpool’s 3 forwards. That’s exactly what United did and they used their fullbacks to pin Robertson and Arnold back.

4-1-4-1 would be a Man City sized disaster with Liverpool’s front 3 overloading our 2 centre backs on the counter and with Chilwell and Ricardo in no mans land.

We need 3 centre backs in my opinion - otherwise Liverpool will just pick us off

And who is your 3rd centre back to compete with the
Speed of Liverpool's forwards 🤔

You’re missing the point of the formation though. The speed of Liverpool’s forward line becomes an issue when it’s 3 forwards vs 2 centre backs. They get overloaded. It happens in a 4-1-4-1 when Chilwell and pereira get caught too high up the pitch or when they cut inside and we lose the ball.

If you do what United did (and let’s face it Maguire isn’t much faster than Morgan), your fullbacks can attack without the worry of their centre backs being exposed on a 3 on 2 if these lose the ball. Works brilliantly on the counter as well
