Jan Window

With the window just days away, what players / positions do you think we need signings in and what do you think we will get, if any at all?

I think we need a CB, a CM, a RW and a CF.

Lindelof and Maguire just dont look food enough a pairing. Yea Tuanzebe looks good we can throw him in just yet, so a CB is required.

Ole seems to want to add goals / creativity but with Pogba back it's hard to see where he can add that apart from the Right wing. Obviously we have been linked with Sancho, but I cant see him moving in Jan.

So, lots needed but I cant see us securing more than 1 permanent signing this window.

Mandzukic has signed for Qatari club Al Duhail. Big blow for Manchester United fans.

Not really. He was only really wanted as a short term option and it seems we are perusing Haaland instead.

Amy manager would love to work with Ed, because he spends big trying to deliver their transfer targets.

My concern is that Ole seems to have given up on this season and is putting a lot of trust in the club being able to deliver top quality players, irrespective of how the 2nd half of our season goes.

Despite our wealth, players will be put off from signing for United under Ole if we finish bottom half.

The last 3 guys would no doubt dispute this description of Ed

Yeah, disgruntled managers with huge ego's tend to blame others.

Would you be happy to see a Chelsea style rebuild?

You have that young highly rated midfielder allegedly looking to leave, tuanzebe, and you probably need to go the route we did.. Plucking the likes of Torres, Suarez and coutinho from lesser clubs, younger players with higher ceilings.

From the outside though, and having seen our club go through it.. Ultimately the issue is your owners.

We had on owner happy to let the club stagnate, then two owners looking to pull a profit out, and only now with fsg do we have good custodians.

They didn't put the purchase debt on the club, they don't take any dividends, they provide the clubs loans from their hedge fund for infrastructure development, and crucially they plough the clubs profits, and money from sales back in to the playing squad.

We got to spend the Torres money, we got to spend all the Suarez money, we got to spend all the coutinho money.

The right owners make all the difference

"The right owners make all the difference"

The benefits all seem financial, something United don't need to worry about given our wealth and profile.

Of course, the more the club has, the more we can spend, but how much do we want to bloody spend? We already spend more than most. I'd much prefer smarter signings than more expensive ones. Something The Glazers have no involvement in.

Well it's not all financial, it's drive, direction for the club, willingness to admit and correct mistakes, finding people to work for you who match your ethos, the club is run from the top down, if your owners see it as a moneymaking exercise, they will treat it as such, FSG want to grow the profile and value of their investment. But they also see themselves as custodians of an important part of the culture.

United have gone downhill since you went the galactic route. Cost is not necessarily an indicator of ability, i think someone at your club needs to realise that. I'm not sure i really grasp Woodwards direction at all.

The club is extremely driven. The commercial stuff is done in order to support the football side (wages and fees)

And Woodward has made the clubs direction very clear. To win titles playing attractive football with a mix of world class signings and Academy graduates.

The Glazers are businessmen and it is an investment for them, of course. But other owners come with their own issues.

Appoint the right manager and 3 or 4 quality signings and a lot of the clubs 'problems' fade away.
