Arsenal,United,Chelsea where to from here

Among ourselves, we have won 21 of the 27 premier league titles. The other 6 belong to City (4) Blackburn (1) and Leicester (1). Currently the benchmark has been set by Pep and Jurgen looks like he will surpass it this season. How do we even come close to it given the current state of the 3 clubs.

Chelsea are currently sitting an eye-popping 20 points behind liverpool.United are 24 points behind, and Arsenal are 28 points behind. Thats an 8 -10 game swing.Based on the amount of money spent by the top teams its illogical that 2 teams can perform at a much higher level than the other top 6 teams. The GAP is just too big.

It wont get any easy.Pep should at least see out the last year of his contract next season and probably City will improve their defense and commence with their transition considering the likes of Silva and Fernandinho may leave.

Liverpool will recruit and strengthen. Its harder obviously to stay on top than to get to the top and Liverpool will eventually lose games but the standard they are setting is still out of reach at the moment.

Klopp has extended his contract so he is there for the long run which is bad news.Looks like the champions league win was what he needed to get to commit himself to LFC. Maybe if Pep leaves at the end of next season there is hope that City will drop of.

But Im afraid to say for Arsenal I anticipate another 3 years of scrapping for top 4 and hoping to sign players who will go on to be top players.

Difficult period and it's difficult to know how to remain positive. Things can change though. We can only hope. Maybe a key injury or a loss of form could give us a sniff.

I still think for the next 4 seasons at least the title will go to either liverpool or city.

*Wenger too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wenger not in that elite group for me, created one great team but couldn't replicate it then took the club backwards for years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One great team yet two doubles and an unbeaten PL campaign with a very different squad?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I accept we can't all have the same football IQ or knowledge but some fans here DJ are really stupid. The funny thing is if you ask the same torser who his elite managers are he will struggle to name 3 and maybe forced to put Klopp in there.

Wenger is a huge part of making the premier league what it is today. He is an elite manager and has rightly been inducted in the LMA hall of fame. His last 10 years are irrelevant. If Fergie was managing united right now he would also struggle against Pep and Klopp.

Clough, Shankly, Wenger, Fergie, Mourinho and Pep are the premier leagues Elite managers.

We really have some bone headed fans on this forum.

According to expected goals and expected points, there is virtually no difference between Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd. Its just Liverpool are insanely efficient at both ends.

So expected goals must be wrong then. When based on how many games etc it cant be right. The result over past 18 months prove it is a load of rubbish.

I think Chelsea will be fine. They have a good squad and will spend.

Utd too although they need more players.

Arsenal, I feel are in a bit of trouble. Their squad is not CL standard really and a lot of their players dont hold much value. The squad is horribly unbalanced and although there are three or four young players coming through I dont think it will be enough. There are not many in the squad who have achieved loads either. Basically I think there are better run clubs in the league who will be challenging them for the Europa spots most years.

Chelsea are in the best position to challenge. Their European ban has been a godsend for them, allowing them to bed in some young talented players. Lampard is unproven though, only time will tell if he's good enough.

Since Ferguson retired utd have been in a mess. Their transfer policy has been shambolic. I have been more impressed with how that have gone about things this season. The problem for them isn't Ole, it's the club heirachy and in particular Woodward. I doubt Ole is the right man long term, but the policy of bringing in younger hungrier players is a step in the right direction.

Aresnal look miles of it. The problem there is the ownership. Arteta needs to be given some time and money to address an alarming unbalanced squad.
