DPL v Oxford Utd

I have no idea what to say about today's outcome, so I'll go for an unlikely one and say 2-0 to us Anderson/Taylor

I liked what I saw of Watters - speedy, and some good skill at getting past defenders. However, he created a good chance for himself and then shot weakly making it an easy save. Maybe he has caught the same disease as some other strikers!
Ennis did the same - had two very good opportunities and shot poorly, and once delayed his shot too long allowing the defender to block the ball.
I told my Oxford supporting cousin that I'd be worried that the "U"s had so many shots but did not score - often a Rovers' disease. Donaldo, I thought that they did attack well, but created very few easy chances and their lack of goals was partly because of our last ditch efforts and good blocking - and clearing off the line when the ball got past Dieng. However, at about 10 minutes, I thought we would get really thumped!

The most recent results show that prediction for DRFC results cannot be a science. It seems to me that if we have the remotest degree of hope for a win we predict it. Only if it seems utterly ridiculous to anticipate success does our faith wane. Such was the general mood in advance of the 26th at Peterborough. Only Nookie and I took leave of our senses then, although Small Azza was top scorer with Sadlier.

Sensibility firmly dictated a win in the next match and of course we were all wrong again.

Rather like the small rodents in cages which scientists study, most of us picked up a behavioural pattern from the above and actually predicted the most unlikely infeasible outcome possible against Oxford and went for the win. Success!

In contrast, the collective belief in Mr Ennis with his single goal to date, seems just as enduring with predictors so clearly he is regarded as having sizeable potential. Eight team mates in all have scored more.

James mom
Closely followed by dieng tom Wright halliday.
Midfield worked hard but not happening at the moment.Give the ball away very cheaply.
Ennis i dont think is fully fit can't seem to hold the ball up.
The ref fell for their diving tactics as they got frustrated by our midfield battling.
We need 2 constructive midfielders and 2 proven strikers. Will it happen?

Lanza, I'm glad you mentioned Oxford's diving tactics. I did not mention it to my cousin as he would probably say I was exaggerating. It seemed to me that whenever they felt any contact they threw themselves to the ground, and for some reason the ref was fooled. Also I'm glad the crowd booed when Oxford started an attack from a throw-in after the Rovers had put the ball out because of an injury. I know "legally" they could, but these days it is not "cricket"!

Adam Idah from the Canaries - will we still get him? Just watched his Cup hat-trick - two well-taken goals and a calmly taken penalty against PNE. I'd prefer a permanent, proven striker, but this youngster certainly seems to know how to finish.

Norwich seem to still be saying “yes”. Other clubs both at our level and in the Championship could well be more attractive after today’s display however.

Be very surprised if we land him now. Plan b ,c,d now again

Plan B.
Welcome back curtis

Lanza - do not keep reminding us of that great signing!

As I said, I would like a permanent signing of someone good, but with our limited financial resources, that is difficult, but more likely in the summer when players are out of contract.

I like the energy and hold-up play of Ennis, but he has not really come through as a STRIKER.

This kid from the Canaries looks good from ONE game, but as their manager said, his other start was not good day for him.

Maybe we will get him to train him into man's football! I'm impressed that we found this guy.

Anyone see Fleetwoods "manager" talking about their game with Portsmouth at the weekend, said we couldn't compete with them when they're paying high end of 3 million for john Marquis. I heard previously they were paying us a million a year over 3yrs, but, just put it down to making up 3 payments for 2mill. Be interesting when the figure does come out if it is 3mill.
