After Derby continued their one match unbeaten run against an 11 man Charlton side the partisan crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Of course we will continue this unbeaten run on Thursday with the other most capped England player -Wayne Something. With so many suspensions Bielek and Lawrence - and injuries - Huddz, Bogle and Shinie - he may even start. This is it, the surge starts here.
Anyway, expectations will be high.
The last game showed some promise - with the academy boys Knight and Bird be of ing more assertive and the whole team in general,playing with less fear. Maybe going down to 10 men is the way forward? Or have we always been playing with 10 men and suspensions not withstanding would we have been playing with 9 men on Monday?

Could have been out of sight by half time. We need to start being more clinical.
Rooney makes this game look simple.
The 10 men effort the other night took it’s toll in the second half and we looked knackered.
Deserved win.
I’d say play the kids v Palace but we already are. So give Beilik and Lawrence and run out in the cup.
I’d rest the whole team that played tonight if it was me.

Marriott should have had 5. He was worse than Waghorn at one on ones tonight. I was impressed with Rooney's strength and athleticism but he was a bit off the pace. Bird, Clarke and Holmes all had better games.

Watched a large chunk of the match last night and I thought Rooney had a decent debut. What he clearly lacks in speed of foot he makes up with speed of mind.
He can pick a peach of a pass and find space, something that looks simple to top players.
On the negative side, a lot of the Derby players, as most at this level, do not have a comparable speed of thought to profit fully, which will irritate Rooney; and unfortunately the Derby forwards also look like they are made of animal fat and tissue paper.
Interesting to see how he develops.
