Klopp had his Dortmund side bottom of the table the season after making the CL final

......

No he didn’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My bad, it was the season after the season after but the point remains - some managers can only get the best out of a group of players for a limited amount of time

Add in Daniel Levy and a new stadium delayed way past it’s delivery time and it’s a marvel he even got `spurs to a CL final
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair in each of the seasons after the CL final he lost his two best players and wasn't given the chance to replace them.

Klopp announces he's leaving Dortmund:-
Referring to the departures of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich over the past two summers, he added: "I chose this time to announce it because in the last few years some player decisions were made late and there was no time to react."

The team had come to an end and it was time to move on or rebuild. It seems to me he was annoyed at the two players being sold and him not getting the chance to replace them on time.

Some similarities there with Poch whereby it did feel like the team had come to the end as players were sold and not replaced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Definitely. Which shows that just because a manager doesn’t quite have the best ‘final’ season with a club doesn’t mean they’re suddenly a poor manager. Just means that sometimes there is a bigger picture
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. People often point to Rodgers' last season at Liverpool but it all went against him. Suarez sold, Sturridge injured Balotelli signed against his wishes and ending up with Sterling at 19 playing the lone striker role, with the team struggling for goals.

He would be a better choice, not that he'd be a popular one for you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I said we should get Rodgers when he was at Celtic. I like him a lot but I have this feeling he’s waiting for the City job

You Can't Buy Class (U12019)

Don’t get me wrong, I think we’ve got some good players and excellent prospects. I also think performances could and should be a lot better, even if the league position is about right. But inconsistency is not that surprising.

I also agree that players we’ve bought, attacking ones in particular, have failed largely as they’ve not been used properly (I’d even include Kagawa in that, under Sir Alex). Coaching and improving players seems to have been a problem at United for years - almost nobody we signs really improves long-term at the club and thus becomes just another squad player. Another reason why the squad is imbalanced.

You need to give the manager time to implement a style of play.

Look at Lampard and Arteta. Both former players and are doing well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ole started well enough...& as for Arteta...he hasn't even hung his fackin coat up yet

Having slept on the performance last night I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't be disappointed at all if I saw Ole had been sacked. That's not to say that I want that to happen of course.

I think I could live with the inconsistent results if our football led to us creating chances and being good to watch. Too often though it isn't.

I've said it a few times before but just improving a few basics would make us better. For example the thing that annoys me most is our seeming inability to pass the ball into the stride of players. How many times do our moves lose momentum when the ball is played to feet or behind the player causing them to check back! Really gets me that.

Did people really think we’d be challenging this season? It’s a bit up and down, so what! We’re in the semi of the league cup, knock out stages of the ropey league, we’re still in with a shout of top 4, Rashford is having his best season goals wise, McT is fast becoming a top player, we’ve blooded lots of the youngsters and some of them are pushing for first team starts...........

We’re perhaps 2 or 3 signings away from a bit more consistency, and maybe getting some momentum for a challenge in the near future.

No we are nots

We are a better players, new manager, new ceo and new owners away from being title challengers. However I believe with a new manager who is competent we can finish in the top 4 as shown with previous

The problem is the club, not the manager. Having this revolving door policy with managers won’t fix anything. When Ole came to the club we were in absolute turmoil. We had players who weren’t trying, players on ridiculous salaries, low quality players at the end of their usefulness on gold plated contracts. Ole, like any manager with long term plans, needs time. Vent your spleen at Ed. That’s where the real problems are.
