Am I missing something?

I'd say we are all in full agreement that we need players, and it seems at least 50% of the board think Ole is out of his depth and the other 50% think the jury is still out (eg, no one is fully convinced).

Yet, it seems a big majority of the board are still shocked when we lose a game. Going to Arsenal was hardly some banker, yet the backlash seems even stronger than the loss at Watford (one that left me depressed for a day!).

Why is there still this mindset that we should be winning most of our games? Why is the shock at last night's loss (to a team with some great players, at home, with new manager bounce) the straw that broke the camel's back?

It's not about us losing though, at least it's not for me, it's the manner in which we lose and quite often the way in which we play. They are the overriding factors. I thought the same under Mourinho and I'm not going to change the way I think now because it's Ole.

Performances like in the first half yesterday, against Watford and for about 70 minutes against Sheffield United are a concern and they're just a few examples.

Doesn't that tend to happen when teams are in transition though?

We get some amazing performances, like City away... Some ok performances, like in Europa.. and then some shocking ones, like Watford, where we look like we've never kicked a ball before.

It's like expecting to lose and draw loads of games, but expecting to lose or draw them while still playing good football, it's a bit of an oxymoron.

I honestly do not know why anyone bothers debating with Robbie. He has shown time and time again he does not debate in good faith and will move the goalposts at will.

You only have to look at his former banned accounts to see this phenomenon

How we played against City doesn't happen very often. It was an excellent display of counter-attacking football played at a level we've rarely seen at United in recent years.

That being said, like I said last night, those games suit us because teams give us the space and we have quick players to exploit that space. It's effective against the better sides but it's a bit basic. I've not seen a lot beyond that in terms of developing a strategy that doesn't rely heavily on pace which is disappointing as Ole's been here over a year now.

Yes of course we need better players but players alone won't solve all the issues we have in opening teams up.

I don't mind losing if we put in some effort at least.

The first half yesterday was a disgrace - zero effort all round the team.

If I was the boss at United, I would dock wages for players playing like that. It should not be acceptable.

First half against Sheffield United was similar. Although we came back that night, going a goal down really seems to knock the stuffing out of these players. A far cry from the Ferguson teams, in that way as much as any other.

Their last game was Saturday so there are no excuses for tiredness.

They were just lazy.

Yea, I don't get the mentality at times... How can a player not be up for a night game at the Emirates against Arsenal, knowing a win takes them 2 points from top 4. Do their heads drop as soon as the going gets a bit tough? Are they not being motivated enough in the pre match team talk? Is there a deep seated malaise after years of getting away with it and getting managers sacked?

These are the more important managerial questions... Not the "why is he playing Lingard" type stuff.

I do agree the players are as much to blame as the manager Ji. They got away with murder getting Jose sacked and then playing as well as they did just a week later and then going on that run.

I hope if/when Ole gets sacked we have a manager who can kick their asses and get the best out of them. If not we’re just destined to kowtow to the players who don’t really know what it means to play for United

..........

This does need to be addressed though Ji. At present Lingard doesn’t warrant being a squad player.

He was very good against City, so I get the choice.... but it’s an area we need to fix asap
