It's not pro- vs anti-Solskjaer

Often on this forum you'll see people referring to 'the Ole camp' and the 'Ole out camp'. I don't think that's the real division. The more fundamental division is between good faith posters who are willing to recognise that reality contains shades of grey and those who peddle simplistic black-and-white viewpoints or predetermined agendas.

As far as I can see, there is next to nobody saying that Solskjaer is beyond reproach and certainly the best man for the job. Many (me included) are urging us to be cautious about creating further instability by ripping up another rebuilding project at such an early stage, and inclined to give Ole the benefit of the doubt based on seeing what we can do with a squad of his choice, together with lack of faith that Woodward will make the right selection in replacing him / will adequately support the next manager. I'd say that's a fairly reasonable and nuanced view, which may prove to be completely wrong. At the same time, there are some excitable posts that are needlessly hostile to criticism of OGS.

Conversely, there are widely respected posters (such as TRS and Diafol) who look at the situation in a reasonable and nuanced way and have concluded that Solskjaer isn't the man for us. They may well be right. There are also excitable idiots who have nothing to say apart from "get rid of Ole".

The point is, discussions between reasonable posters who are interested in the details and the quirks that complicate the picture always seem to go well. On the other hand, if you're talking to someone who works back from a fixed conclusion and cherry picks facts to support it - whether that's because they have a ludicrously simplistic view of the world (UWW), they're a troll (RDD) or a tendency to set and aggressively defend an agenda (no examples spring to mind), you're unlikely to have a fruitful discussion.

Random one while we're talking about Leeds. Last year I had a dream that I was sitting in some grubby American-style diner and noticed Marcelo Bielsa. He turned out to be really friendly and we had a great chat.

Robb says his agenda is to see United compete for the big trophies again. On a forum full of United fans isn't that what we all want?

Having a nuanced opinion isn't having no opinion Robb. It's generally the correct one. Case in point, Jose was a problem a united, he certainly wasn't the only one though.

But single-issue, campaigning posters can't do this. If Ole isn't good enough, then he hasn't done anything right, he's bad at everything.

No Robb, it is you (and others) constantly banging the same drum like spoilt children that causes the division. We get bored of it and give you stick for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What you just typed there doesn’t actually mean anything.

No one is spoilt. People have genuine reasons for their opinion. Are you saying that people aren’t allowed to want Ole out? Does it hurt your safe space for others to have their opinions?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My safe space? Haha. It is you that is obsessed with the topic Robb. You get so obsessed with these things, then constantly post article after article about it, because you can't handle that people don't agree with you. Then you talk about other poster's safe spaces? Once again, your lack of self-awareness is amazing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I present opinions. I argue these opinions. Like everyone else. Why are you so triggered that other people have opinions that differ to you? I accept that some people have different opinions which is why I try to debate them and argue my point. You seem to think that I am so wrong it deserves wider analysis of me. In reality it’s just one guy against another.

Robb reminds me of a fellow called Dave Rubin. If you haven't heard of him, look him up.

well I’m of that mindset as Russian, that I really don’t want further instability so soon. Obviously results count, but at the very fooking least, attitude and a vision of play has to come through. We are so predictable.
There has to be an attitude issue with the regularity of inconsistency, although it’s obvious players are out of form and simply lack quality.
How were Arsenal so confident last night?
I admit, I may of selected Jesse just cos he likes it there, but I would’ve yanked him at half-time.
It’s a shame, but he was so shocking, and it’s unfair on Martial.
But the point on Ole is over a year in the job, and even though I believe he’s handicapped by Ed, and a weak squad in depth. Certain things just can’t be allowed.
And the constant drop in levels, to the point that it seems like it’s the first time they’ve kicked a ball, is ridiculous. We still have no Leader.
Fook sake, McGuire!? That header or what ever that was, was sooo poor! Ole is on thin ice. I want him to succeed, but this pattern of behaviour has to stop.
I mean if we lose we lose, but die trying dammit!

I think these mixed feelings are characteristic of where many of us are at right now. (And the opposite of the black-and-white view that derails good discussion.)

I'm not creating division. I'm making an (apparently futile) appeal for this forum not to sink into depressingly binary, single-topic rancour.

Robb, do you think it's a coincidence that you've been involved in more vendettas than the Sicilian mafia?
