Injuries - play schedule

Managers complaining about the schedule after 12 injuries in one day

Harry Kane (Tottenham): hamstring
Tanguy Ndombélé (Tottenham): muscle injury
Jetro Willems (Newcastle): groin
Javier Manquillo (Newcastle): hamstring
Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle): hamstring
Fabian Schär (Newcastle) hamstring
DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle): broken hand
Tom Heaton (Aston Villa): knee
Wesley (Aston Villa): knee
Kiko Femenia (Watford): hamstring
Bernard (Everton): knee
Dan Burn (Brighton): broken shoulder

Really think the FA needs to sort this out. Football on Boxing day and NYD is great for spectators, although many would probably be hung over, its a massive strain on players.

On the barbaric point I hadn’t claimed to. I just laughed at you. I’m still laughing.

Clearly you’ve not read every comment I’ve made if you feel that is the entire basis for my opinion.

Listen, you disagree with me. That’s fine. But cut the crap about trying to dismiss my argument as lacking credibility - it just makes you sound like someone who can’t handle an alternative opinion and who cannot discuss a subject like an adult.

Tell you what, I'll link you to a dictionary definition: https://www.collinsdictionary.com/amp/english/barbaric

You sound more like you can't handle an alternative argument, and that is why you keep trying to throw up your hands and say "it's my opinion and thus you must respect it". Again, opinions are not inherently worthy of respect. Pretending we all have to respect each other's opinions is a form of cowardice. It is the right to having them that must be respected.

Yes, playing a game of football on Boxing Day whilst being paid millions a year is not brutal, cruel, savage etc. It just isn’t.

And I can’t handle an alternative opinion yet have repeatedly said that I understand the alternative view but just disagree with if? Yeh, that makes sense.

Let me know if you want to discuss the actual topic rather than trying dismiss it.

Of course it's not barbaric. The clubs can and should rotate.

Just one other thing, respecting an opinion is not a right of course, but social media would be far better if people took the time to try and understand other people’s opinions rather than just trying to dismiss them.

You obviously have an opinion, as do I. Rather than trying to make out that mine has no credible basis, maybe you should spend a bit more time trying to understand what it’s based on.

With Winston on the 'barbaric' thing. I've worked in catering for over 5 years now, Christmas & New Year can be hellish schedules but I knew what I'd signed up for. I grate my teeth every year but it's a byproduct of the industry, you do what you gotta do cos the bosses make more money over the holidays - is what it is. The only difference with a PL footballer is they're paid outrageously more to do the same thing, if they wanna trade places with me they're more than welcome too

The relevant argument with this issue is the practicality of it. How the schedules affect the players during a World Cup/Euros later in the year, one e.g.... those are the valid points worth discussion. The human argument is null and void, plenty of people have to graft over this period, don't like it, get a different job. PL footballers should be no different in that respect.

I haven't read all the replies but those twelve injuries occured over just 6 teams, 8 over 3 teams, maybe that's pointing more at them than the schedule being as 12 teams were injury free and a few of them have played more games so far this season. Maybe we need to look at more data before we start drawing conclusions.
