The kid is exactly what we need. English, Young, Hugely talented, a United fan, at a smaller club.
Go get him Ole. We can afford it.

TOOR, my view on it can be best described as buying players whose market value will never be higher than when United buy them.
Maddison might well go onto be a superstar, but you surely forgive United fans for feeling that it’s unlikely based on the recent sheiteshow of our transfer dealings.

Too many wannabe chief execs on here
Who cares about market value. The lid is class. United have and allways will get ripped off on fees. We can afford it, so let's go do it.

You’re probably best to go back and read the previous replies to the same comment you made a couple of hours ago rather than expecting people to repeat themselves.

Well yes but the whole point is if there is one position which can completely knit together what you're trying to do, you spend big in that position and use any remaining funds to fill the squad. Solskjaer obviously thought that was centre back. Most others think it's the link from midfield to attack, a player who can score goals and create. Therefore whether he will go for more than you sign him for is irrelevant as he has made the system work and therefore the value has been worth it. For me Madisson could be your VVD, in this respect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you’ve described what happens when it goes right.
Based on recent years, I’m not confident it would and whilst I like Maddison, I don’t think he’s too much of a gamble to be paying the amount of money we’d have to in order to get him.
It’s targeting players who aren’t available, aren’t proven at the top level and paying absolute fortunes for them... no wonder so many turn out to go downhill in value rather than up.

Do, not don’t!

How much will it take to seal the deal though?

For what it’s worth, Maddison has a lot less wrong with his game than Maguire. We all warned you that Maguire wasn’t our best centre half. That kind of warning isn’t needed with Maddison; he’s a good player and has acclimatised to the league this season.
He’ll also cost you a lot more than £80m and won’t be sold unless he wants to leave.

Leicester will mug us dry and we're with Eddy at the helm stupid enough to pay over the odds. There is premium attached to the price because Maddison is English, there is further premium attached because we're Utd and even further premium attached because we're stupid with money!

With the prospect of a 2nd place finish, and, provided our lads aren’t derailed with further setbacks such those they suffered recently, I will see it as a huge disappointment if they fall below that mark (some of you people might think otherwise!).
With so much promise for the months ahead I can’t see Maddison being allowed to leave. On the other hand, I see him as someone who will be swayed and will be tempted by the “bright lights” elsewhere at some stage in the future. Much brighter lights than Leicester can offer I regret to say and that has often been the case in the past.

No idea. But United are one of the few who could afford such a deal should we choose.
