Ole Presser

On Pogba:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knew what was coming - his team are playing Wolves on Saturday in the FA Cup and the first question was about someone who is not playing.

As someone asking the questions you can get criticised for not asking about the game - but Paul Pogba has been the big talking point around Manchester United this week, which is why this was the first response.

"Here we go again, FA Cup third round and you’re talking about Paul again," said Solskjaer.

"Paul came back after a long spell out, two games, had a reaction and couldn't go to Burnley.

"He felt his ankle was sore, we did a scan and it's not the same injury, it’s a different injury. Of course, when you get that scan and we speak to him, you always consult your own medical people as well, like I did when I did my operation. You want the best second opinion and the advice was to have it done. It's not a major one and probably, as I said, three or four weeks."
===============

On Greenwood:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on happier ground when he was asked about young striker Mason Greenwood, who has scored eight goals so far in his debut season and is one of the undoubted stars of an inconsistent campaign for Manchester United.

"He has grown a lot," said Solskjaer. "He is physically and mentally robust. He's grown a lot in confidence and performance. Mason will just continue until he's a regular."
=============

On Pogba again:

Part of the problem with the Paul Pogba situation is that, when telling the media that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be sidelined again he said that the midfielder had been "advised by his people" that he needed another ankle operation. That suggested some conflict with the club or that "his people" were dictating the situation.

However, the Manchester United boss has attempted to clear that up, saying that "it's not the same injury, it's a different injury", before adding: "His people...as in when you consult your surgeon and the ones you trust, that's maybe my bad English.

"You have people you trust and speak to. As I said, when I had my injuries, loads of knee operations, I had my people in Norway and Sweden I spoke to and Paul has people he trusts, and that's more important."

Solskjaer then tried to stop any further questions on Pogba, saying: "So that's more or less it. And the FA Cup is the next talking subject, all right? That's as clear as it can be at this point."
====================

On the draw/match:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer began talking about the FA Cup specifically with a tongue in cheek comment about being drawn against Wolves again after they knocked Manchester United out of last season's quarter-finals.

"First of all, we blame the FA for hot and cold balls!" Solskjaer joked. "Wolves away and Wolves away, they're not going to make it easy for us.

"It's the fourth time there already in my time that we've played at Molineux and we haven't won there. Liverpool lost there last season, Manchester City recently. We've got to play well, we've got to perform and go there positive because we want a reaction after a defeat at Arsenal. Everybody said it was a bad, bad performance but it was a good game between good teams."

As well as beating Manchester United in last season's FA Cup quarter-finals, Wolves beat Premier League champions Manchester City last week before giving league leaders Liverpool a run for their money at Anfield.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added:"The quality they have first of all, they have good players, a good manager who's had time, got his way of playing, his philosophy. The players are getting to know each other and swap between 3-5-2 and 3-4-3, and seem to know every little detail. They know each other, the rotations, which is a great place to be when you get the consistency he's had. We're up for a hard night at Molineux."

===================

On injuries:

Finally from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he gave an fitness update and it seems a few colds are his biggest concern.

"Paul Pogba is out," he said. "Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah are getting closer but won't be ready for this.

"Marcos Rojo won't be ready for this. There are a couple of illnesses and colds, which is normal for this time, so I'll have to see who wakes up tomorrow (Saturday) and feels OK."

If all you have got to have a go at OGS is the fact that he smiles a lot says more about yourself than Ole.

It's what he does. This doesn't mean he is a clueless manager does it?

Prof Brian Cox smiles a lot. Is he clueless too?

It’s the on the pitch Performances that show he is clueless

What was clueless about our on pitch performances in games like Spurs, City, Liverpool, PSG, Leicester, Chelsea to name a few?

You disappear when we play well. It is like you don’t actually support United at all. Who would have thought that.

The thing I don't get VC is that you can acknowledge those good performances, even acknowledge some gradual improvement, and still quite reasonably argue that the lack of consistency and failure to improve the squad deficiencies or tactics in key areas are reasons that Solskjaer isn't good enough. It's the same conclusion but a much stronger argument and they'd get to look a lot more dignified in the process.

I think that 'you're only as good as your last result' applies to most on here.

.......

Exactly. That is where I am. I can see the good stuff and I can see the bad.

You don’t have to be in either camp.
