Ole on midfield options

"We have been looking to strengthen the squad in different positions," said Solskjaer. "But in midfield, at the start of the season we had four fit players for two positions and we didn't find the right one for the value

"Of course, [the injuries] are a big blow. You could probably handle it with three players rotating.

"If you've got two fit it is a hard task for them. We will just have to ask them to keep going if they can. You can't just accept we're tired."
==========

Should put to bed the criticism that he was happy to go into the season with the midfield we have. For whatever reason, we weren't able to get the targets that he wanted.

My only reasoning for us not going for him was that we gave Leicester a free run due to the Maguire deal. Either that or complete and utter incompetence on our scouting dept / Woodward.

If it’s the first, it makes Maguire seem even more expensive, in a way.

Plus it’s also strengthened a top 4 rival

Pretty sure we didn't go for Tilemans as he was Leicester bound and we didn't want to irritate them as we also wanted Maguire.

Imagine choosing Maguire over Tielemans. Blame the board all you want but pretty sure the club didn't want Maguire and only got him to back Ole. They said no to Jose.

It's the same with Matic, it's one of those signings that we would never make except to show our faith in a manager.

Blame the board all you want but these managers are requesting players who we should never be signing.

Matic and Maguire cost a combined £120m. What an absolute waste of money. We literally had better players at the club already as well (Herrera was a better dm for us than Matic).

Both signings are sackable offences, in my opinion. As was Fellaini before them. What is it with this club and signing overpriced donkeys? Not even the good ones like Forza’s.

If it’s the first it may just be what pushes Darren over the edge regarding maguire

Leave Fellaini alone 😢

For pure impact (important goals, not elbows) he was probably one of our best post SAF signings

Not that that says a lot 🤔

The RvP thing got Ole riled.

About time we saw him get a bit mad.

Gone up as a manager in my estimation. But that wasn’t difficult

Still Ole out though.

I just don’t think he’s got the pulling power as a manager

This value is nonsense. Ed is an incompetent buffoon and Ole is the perfect barrier for him because if Ed doesn’t deliver, Ole ain’t gonna make a big deal out of it like Jose did. You should at least have 4 to 5 choices in case first choice don’t work out for whatever reason. It’s clear we need signings, have a few targets in mind and get them. Not dither over value. It’s just a way of saying, yeah we tried but they didn’t want to come so we didn’t bother, but hey....look we got youth.

All Ole's talk of youth has probably given Ed an excuse not to deliver all the targets. If we don't get a player, doesn't matter, we have the youth.

Ole needs to talk less about youth, and start putting pressure on Ed to get signings.

Clearly the issue was the fees / wages being asked by Oles targets. Now, it all Woodwards flaws, spending money isnt one of them. I can only therefore conclude that Oles targets weren't worth the fees / wages being asked.

So hang on. There wasn’t the right target for value yet Maguire was value at 80 million pounds, making him the most expensive defender of all time.

Alrighty then.
