with this seasons emergence of some very promising young talent, we are looking at a future right side pairing of Reece James an CHO who in my opinion always plays better when hes on the right side(Maybe because of the pairing) together they look very good.
The last couple of weeks have seen the arrival of Tariq Lamtey (boy is that kid quick) who has shown that he has very similar traits to a young Ashley Cole in that he can dribble at pace beat players and put in telling crosses plus he can defend .
His main problem is his stature hell need to bulk up as he will lose hands down to Reece every time because of this.
On a sad note yesterdays substitution of Pedro looked like the clubs cheesy attempt at a farewell appearance, hope not as he still remain one of our most dangerous goal threats.
A problem for the the future

With you regarding CHO's immediate future being on the right this season. He's looked at his best for us when playing in direct roles where there's no pressure on him to free up spaces for others, right now in our team that's RW. As time passes & James becomes more of a permanent fixture in the team that might change.
Unless he wants to leave now I see no reason why Pedro won't see out his contract (which is up in the summer I think). Top player, as a fan feel privileged he choose us over United, deserves a ton of respect when he does make that farewell appearance.

the problem being should it be lamtey or james on the right with CHO

or if cho goes to the left then maybe lamtey can play as winger but we do still have to make room for Pulisic at some stage

CHO was given so much space agst Forest that his performances tells us absolutely nothing. Until he shows he can influence games in the PL where there is little to know space we shall have to remain hopeful and patient

That's not really a problem though. Reece James is our future RB unless he decides to play in another position which he undoubtedly could because he is that good.
Lamptey looked great in a cameo but we'll need to see more of him. And either way it's a squad game so we'll need two options at RB in the squad. If both of those are homegrown then even better.

I still hope that we can develop RJ into a midfielder in the mould of Gerrard/KDB

could be the next alexander arnold. James actually reminds me of essien in a way, essien had the ability to play full back and obviously as a cm, similar build and styles.

I wouldn't mind seeing RJ try his hand in CM. I'm sure he'd be great there too. Probably could play in just about any position. It's really up to the player though and where he's most comfortable, for the foreseeable future he's a RB.
