Fourth round draw preference

The surrounding fixture list makes this match a tight schedule. It's hard to think that we would play anything other than our reserves in it, with two Premier League fixtures just before it and the League Cup semi-final second leg shortly after. So what's our preference for it?

I'm thinking:

Best: League 1 or 2 team at home. Genuine chance to progress, even with a second team out.
Not too bad in the great scheme of things: Any PL team away or tough PL team at home, the kind of match where we can either bow out gracefully or where they'll stick out their reserves as well.
Avoid: Banana skin/upset type fixtures. Don't want anything season-upsetting.
Worst: Derby County, home or away. A team with nothing to play for this season except to be a spoiler.
My prediction: Southampton away.

Very tricky indeed. Brentford are going well and 3rd in the Championship. Will be a good test for our reserves

Tricky tie. They are going well and will be playing with confidence. I bet they will be buzzing for this one

It might come down to how ambitious each manager is with team selection as both teams have something to chase: I would fear our reserves against their first team.

But could have bee n worse.

We will definitely be playing our reserves, includes goodness knows who at centre back. Might depend on whether we can get a draw to take it back to the KP.

*Goodness knows who = Andy King...?

Now just waiting for Black Starr’s infilled comment of
“I would rather [...] my [...] than see Andy King at centre back.”

Happy to oblige Dunge

I’d rather smear fishpaste on my balls and dangle them in a pool of piranhas than see King at centre back or even in midfield for that matter!

Yep, that’ll do.

Andy King the first player to win the top 3 divisions AND FA Cup all with the same club as he captains our side to victory at Wembley as a centre back, following his earlier round appearances at right back and centre forward.
