When Leeds play Blackburn on April 4th, Leeds will become the club that Marcelo Bielsa has managed for the most amount of games.
I remember when he joined, many thought it wouldn't last, myself included, but once we've seen him close up, we've seen his integrity and loyalty, maybe he wasn't so temperamental leaving other club, perhaps he was just being messed about.
He seems comfortable here, never complains about the board although AR has disagreed at times with what Bielsa has done, it seems a harmonious relationship where it appears that Bielsa feels he is supported.
He must know how good his relationship is with the fans and the city.
If we fail to go up this season, if he chooses to go I would understand it, feel sad and remember 2 amazing years.
But if we go up, and that is a strong possibility right now, one hopes that we get one more year from Bielsa, but also, maybe, just maybe he thinks, I've been here the longest, I've achieved something special here and have really solid foundation to take things even further, show that my philosophy is correct, that it can yield success and develop players.
It's not an easy decision though, and I would have no problem if he decided not to continue, to be able to spend more time with his family, it's a big sacrifice he has made at his age these last 18 months.
But what we saw in first half, what we see in U23s, what we see in youngsters feeling that they do have a chance to make it to first team and with plans to expand the ground to 50k, why not stay. Why have to start all over again somewhere else? Maybe a World Cup opportunity or perhaps one day back to his beloved Newells, no one could begrudge Bielsa that, but having been here through the Centenary, having seen the amazing support at a Prem ground, I really hope Bielsa wants to stay and build a legacy here so that we're playing this way at the top level for years to come.
The future for Bielsa

Yeah it’s a massive commitment/sacrifice and he deserves huge respect for that and it’s an issue that is hard to get around, I would completely understand if at some point he says he needs to go back because of this.

Anyone know his personal circumstances ? Is his family in S.America for example ?

Cal.. all his family are in Argentina still.. Bielsa lives on his own in flat above a post office.
sounds tough, but I'd imagine its a relatively standard situation for a lot of foreign managers / players

I don't know why they couldn't just bring the wife over for instance. Unless they are happy with that separation

- I'd imagine that's a perfect scenario for some to be fair Cal

Can you imagine the fitness levels his wife needs to reach? I suspect she's enjoying the rest....
