Taking a break from slaughtering Ole for a moment and I have to move my War of the Worlds-like tripod laser vision to Pereira.
I’ve seen many players come and go over the years. From the good like Giggs to the bad like Schneiderlin to the ugly like Jones
But I genuinely don’t know what Pereira offers. Is his stock in trade just getting the ball and shooting from 30 yards? He is terrible and should be out the door tomorrow. Even someone like Lingard has some sort of credit in the bank from his important goals and the time is up for him. Pereira is just a joke.
Please leave. What does he even do?
Andreas Pereira

I don’t expect VVD. I don’t expect any more than we’ve seen because I know he’s not very good at football. The reasons he’s a bad signing is because we spent £80m on him and then loaned out a better defender. Absolutely terrible signing.

I agree we overpaid, massively

Trouble is he's created a culture where it's hard to shift them.
I know Liverpool have massively incentivised contracts and apparently we lost money on winning the CL due to huge bonuses or something.
Anyway Woodward doesn't seem to have that knack. Maybe he's just not likeable in that sector. You get some rec consultants who suit industrial and some medical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And this contributes to what someone earlier called a “Frankenstein” squad...
Rojo, signed because Van Gaal wanted a left-footed defender and because he was solid in WC2014, including against Holland (I think).
Matic, signed because Mourinho trusted him for not downing tools at Chelsea, even though most Chelsea fans were glad to lose him.
Fred, whom Mourinho didn’t even want, according to some reports.
Shaw, whose signing I believe Moyes was “working on” when he got sacked.
Martial, bought by Van Gaal “for the next manager” - who wanted to sell him.
Jones, who was going to be one of our greatest players.
And Young, the Giggs replacement who accidentally became a full-back and then our non-playing captain.
We’d struggle to shift any of them.

What Woodward does is that he offers higher base salaries in return for image rights. From what I gather it’s worked out quite well financially for us given that trade off, apart from with Sanchez I believe.
Issue with this is that it’s a caaaant to get rid of them if they’re no good because of their contracts. Which leads to wasted wages being paid and lower transfer fees. So Woodward’s facking up here and costing us money.

You'd think Utd would have enough money to put football first really.
Cant be great having unwanted players knocking about the squad. Never seems to make a profit either.

Thing is if it becomes club money and raises the annual revenue for the club it’s job done for Woodward. The revenues and profits are what the owners and shareholders care about. They probably don’t realise just how much money is being wasted because of this endeavour.

This made me laugh.
I think Shaw would still have plenty of takers. In fact Utd could do worse than dropping him on Everton, who are bobbins at transfers and will seemingly buy anyone, and taking Digne the other way.

Problem is people see Maguire’s price tag and expect another VVD, which is silly, but I’d rather have him in there than the headcase that is Bailly, yes he has the tools in his locker but he’s about as bright as Phil Jones when it comes to self preservation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it silly to expect someone who cost more than VVD to be around his level?
I’m not so sure it is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s just not true, is it? Like when someone earlier said that he was “just a poacher”.
So that’s a mere goal scorer, with pace, who can run at players and beat a man...
His decision-making needs to improve, no doubt, but he’s a good player already.

I like Rashford. I’ve said for years I’d happily have him at Liverpool. I think if he was a part of our squad and under Klopp he’d look very very good.

Plenty of things!
I’m not depressed at all. Once a Ole goes and we get a capable manager I’m sure it won’t be as dark as it is now. I’m actually optimistic about the future of United. I’ve seen how Liverpool have turned it around. Right now we’re in our Roy Hodgson period. Hopefully we get a Klopp at some point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually agree with your OP, Andreas should be no where near the club. Works hard but has the decision making of a baked potato.
We are not in our "Roy Hodgson" period. The two situations cannot be compared, and Liverpool had two managers between Roy and Klopp. If Ole goes tomorrow and Poch (for example) comes in the same problems remain at the club. The squad is still extremely weak, an we'd still have a clueless CEO in charge
