Last nights XI

I know we have injuries but last night this was the best XI our manager felt we had available for a cup semi final against one of our biggest rivals and it simply hasn’t isn’t good enough.

De Gea

Once arguably the best keeper in the world but looks a shadow of that at the moment. Too many mistakes and poor distribution has put questions on the decision to give him that bumper new deal. Hopefully he can regain form but unless what’s in front of him improves dramatically I’m not sure he has the fire any more.

AWB

Great tackler but that’s about all you can say he does great. Needs to improve on the ball. He’s been ok but not a 50 million full back yet. Has time on his side though.

Lindelof

Decent player but no more than a squad player at a top club. Not big or powerful enough to be a top CB. I’d keep him but as a squad player. Have high hopes for Tuanzebe but he’s become a bloody sick note.

Jones

Sums us up a club right now that he is still here. Whoever thought giving this guy a new contract was a smart idea needs shooting. I feel a bit sorry for him as he gives his all but never good enough.

Williams

Big heart, talented, big future. Probably needs a year or two as an understudy to someone better than Shaw to be fully ready though.

Fred

Went on social media to see fans and pundits slate this guy and I’m a little bemused. One of our best players this season and far from one of our biggest problems. Think he is someone who would really prosper with better midfielders around him.

Pereira

Squad player but nothing more. Tries his best but doesn’t have it to be a top player. I keep him over Lingard simply because he can play deeper than Jesse as well as a number 10.

Lingard

I’ve defended him in the past but his time is up. Nowhere near good enough. You need a number 10 to have quality on the ball but he offers nothing. He looked like he was becoming a player in Jose’s 2nd season but even then he was coming up with quality goals rather than actually having good performances. We should use the Raiola thing as a reason to get rid.

James

Can be a very useful player but not enough quality to be a regular. I know he’s youngish with time to improve but you can usually tell. Can be a great player to bring on at the hour mark when leading a game or for games when you know the opponent will throw bodies forward but not starting week in week out.

Rashford

Probably the only player in the XI who could start for a top team. I’ve been a big critic of his in the past and severely doubted he was good enough but he’s proved me wrong. Micah Richards said he would score 30-40 a season in City’s team and he mightn’t be wrong. I know he loves the club but how long more can he accept United the way they are before he looks to move on?

Greenwood

Top talent. Hopeful he can become one of the best attackers in the league and maybe beyond that but he’s only turned 18 and not ready to start these games. Should be starting the easier home games but that’s it for now. Huge talent but again needs quality around him to guide him.

*United challenging they mean for the title

I don’t think Pogba will be here next season

Yeah it’s looking increasingly likely he’ll be off. I can’t blame him, he’s far too good to be wasting his peak years at United.

Ok was just making sure.

To be fair, it’s not such a crazy claim - you could argue that we’re already “challenging for top four and domestic trophies”. I agree we’d need far more than that to be a real force though.

And I increasingly don’t see the point in including Pogba in teams beyond this season: surely he’ll go before then, somehow or other.

If yesterday was what challenging looks like I must be getting old...

We've not managed 3 league wins in a row this season... How we're 5th is beyond me...

Our biggest rivals were so poor they sacked their managers

His performances suggest that we are the right place for him.

How would Rashford score 30-40 in Man City team when he struggles against sides that park that park the bus? Also Rashford has had the most total quality chances in the PL this season and probably going to break a PL record on expected goals for a striker.

Rashford sort of reminds me of Ibrahimovic of 16/17 season scored goals but missed the most important chances that would have won us games so we ended up having a shocking start to a PL season. Rashford this season cost us many points with his misses this season and Ibrahimovic did same in 16/17 season. Both players were the main player to get the chances, both players were near bottom at finishing. Thats the problem when you set team up for one player to get the chances and they are near the worst in PL at finishing= midtable form.
