Maguire

Stories of his prolonged absence seem to be untrue. He has a chance of playing this weekend.

Of the injury, Solskjaer added: "It was a minor thing, don't know where the reports are coming from, [reporters] might have mistaken it for Harry Kane."

I feel like some people massively overate Blind, he was neat and tidy on the ball but still not good enough.

You'd take neat and tidy at this point.

I agree. This notion that he would have been good as a DM baffles me a bit. He would be like Lee Catermole without the aggression.

I think his lack of pace was always his enemy. He really was slow.

I’d take Silvestre at this point.

I don't know if anyone is saying Blind was the answer to all of our problems or was overrating him much.

I thought he was a decent player on the ball and read the game well, albeit he had a lack of pace. His versatility is something every squad should have.

Its a bit like saying John O'Shea wasn't good enough for us. Yes you don't want him playing every game but you need people who can fill in and do a job when required.

At half time the other night, I’d have been making inquiries as to the fitness and availability of William Prunier.

On Blind I think we should have kept him in the squad but I think he wanted regular football, so letting him go back to his boyhood club was fair to the player.

Yeah I don’t think Blind was willing to be a squad player the way players like O’Shea were so the comparison doesn’t really work. I had no problem keeping him but disagree with those who claimed he could and should have been our first choice CB or DM which many fans do regularly.

In fairness, that’s because we’ve had Matic, Lindelof and Maguire stinking up the place. So it’s a fair point. But at the time he was obviously seen as a player we should look to upgrade on. Finding players that are happy to be squad players like O’Shea is difficult when you aren’t bery good. They’ll be more than happy enough if you are winning all the time like we were under Fergie.
