Better organised but still lacking quality

We've no doubt improved under defensively under Arteta but that can only take us so far.

Its as clear as daylight that our quality going forward is midtable at best and I said this a couple months back that Arsenal at the moment are probably not even a top 6 team in terms of quality but was told by a deluded bunch on here (you know yourselves ) that we were currently 6th position (in november) and therefore are a top 6 quality team, yes someone actually said this

Even Wolves are better going forward than us, Sheffield had us playing on the break in large periods at home for gods sake, that is embarassing and I'm afraid we'll have to contend with this for the rest of the season, teams are no longer scared to face us!

Hopefully we can scrape into the Europa places at the end of the season, a season out of Europe would be a disaster.

Well Leicester haven’t got a sugar daddy and abramovich is not sheikh mansour either he doesn’t throw money around like he used to. Consistently I agree yeh we would be hurt. I’m saying if worst came to worst it wouldn’t kill us missing one season. Where we’d be able to solely focus on top 6 with no distractions. We’ve just had a big spend last summer and people said we wouldn’t be able to spend big because we weren’t in the CL, ok I know it’s in instalments but we weren’t predicted to bring many in. Just my opinion, I don’t think it would be detrimental to us but I hope I’m some way we can salvage our season.

As I said, we've literally been selling the family silver in order to keep up with the neighbours in the transfer market. All the unexplained cash we've spent over the past 3-4 windows has been straight out of our reserves. We can only keep this going for so long.

That's what you get for being nothing more than a real estate company that also happens to have a football team.

The sooner we purge the MBAs and replace them with 'football men', the better.

And we did create a lot of opportunities. But it was always taking the wrong decision in the final third that killed us.

I'll give you an example. We had a brilliant situation for a free kick shot on goal. Pepe has excelled at that. In fact his corners are just fun to watch on their own! Instead of Pepe taking it Lacazette decided to take it because he is short of confidence. Luiz should have taken the ball from him and given it to Pepe. A little lack of leadership.

Just simple small decisions that maybe lost in the bigger picture but impacts very strongly!

Do you know that Liverpool have a team 6 mathematicians doing analytics helping the coaches? MBAs? I wish we had some.

Fair enough. But rather unkind to Lacazette. He curled it beautifully and just grazed the top corner.

Are we going to build every setpiece arrangement around a couple of freak last-minute goals against some random Europa side?

When was the last time Lacazette scored from a direct free kick for us?

Its not only the couple of goals in the Europa. Just look at Pepe's dead ball delivery. The last time I saw that kind of quality was in Beckham. We are a genuine threat at corners again because of Pepe.

We bought an entire company of facking number-crunchers and look where it's got us.

They've wrecked the academy and turned our scouting structure into a joke.

No one's knocking Pepe's talent. I'd just hate it if we ended up with him standing over every single dead ball like we've done with Ozil over the years.

Variety has never been a bad thing.

We had a manager (Wenger) who was not interested in using them for coaching. He only used them for buying players and out of laziness cause his scouting network was awful in his last 5 years in charge. Dein was a master spotting players through a ton of homework that Wenger just did not do.

Just watch the Royal Institute Christmas lectures on luck when one of the Liverpool analytics guy explained the amount of work they do in every part of the organisation. Its astounding.

When its effective yeah. But right now, Luiz is getting old but he can still blast it. I don' think Ozil is fit. A year on the bench does that. When you have someone who is superb at it then use him when we are in the ideal position. Why waste it?

There are a number of situations I can refer to that shows a lack of thought in our gameplay that will improve. That was just one!
