Scale of the difference:

Just to rub further salt in the wounds i suppose.

Against last seasons top 6 teams:

Liverpool have now played 7 games: winning 6 and drawing 1.
City have played only 5. winning only 2, drawing 1 and losing 2.

Last year city dominated the top 6 mini league and took 6 extra points in it (4 off LFC alone)

However it is against the "non top 6" (included leicester and sheff utd sorry) that the message is stark

Liverpool are played 15, won 15. Scored 37 conceded 9. = perfect 45 points.
City have played 18 here, winning 13, drawing 2 nd losing 3. = 41 points.

So LFc have played 3 less against non top 6 teams but have claimed 4 more points.

from game week 23 to game week 26 city will play their "top 6 rivals" again.

The gap is actually amazingly based off city playing more against teams they "should" be beating. only themsevles to blame!

If your point is we aren’t as good as we were last season, then yes, that’s absolutely right and entirely our issues. I think some of the reasons for that are (hopefully) temporary, others need a longer term fix.

In the grand scheme of things though, we’re still second, in all the cups and got a game against Real Madrid that I’m really looking forward to. We’ve had plenty of worse seasons!

Beyond the downturn in domestic football standards, luckily for you, it appears that Liverpool becoming European Champions has also coincided with a global downturn in football standards, with Barca and Madrid also being utter 5h1te now. 🙂
Should be a walk in the park for City v Madrid. 😉

Yes this is all true. And I don't tihk you are "much worse"

Its just that you can clearly see you've just conceded a few more goals and not controlled games as well as you had done.

but your record is still quite good for a side in 2nd place after 22 games in the league.

exactly, he'll never win the oscars though. the golden globs are just rubbish anyway.

and when he goes and wins it then it'll be a "poor year for the oscars"

He only won the Oscar cause people take films based on comics seriously these days

I agree, I didn’t say we were much worse. It’s all relative too, it is a large drop off to last year, but then we were both so far above then (and you still are) that even with that, it just brings it down to what was considered normal beforehand.

All it shows really is the stupidly high level we were operating at and you are now. I don’t think points always tell the full story either, there’s a lot of fine margins in there too.

the oscars were so much better in my day. no comic books characters (gladiator wasn't a comic book after all)

the last 3 year imo have been "abnormal" and frankly stellar .

I mean its never been done before to win a domestic treble in england. PERIOD.

that really shouldn't be happening.

Pretty sure city have an awful month of games in may or April. Hard to see them not dropping more points during that period
