Thought you would have won by more tonight, based on you guys apparently being so slick at the weekend.
Doesn’t sound as if St Mirren caused any real problems for you though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Expected perhaps a 2 or 3-0 but from the outset it was clear that Godwin had set them out for damage limitation.
Of course it is up to the home (or favourite) side to break them down but at times it was embarrassing to see not one of their players in our half.
It is what it is - 3 points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s what teams do when they come up against opposition they feel have the edge on them. Look at your run to the uefa cup final. If it works, then it’s difficult to moan about.

Yes - League games and 2-legged, UEFA Cup games are totally the same...

Clearly not, but the premise is the same.
I’ll let you argue black is white though.
3 points is all that matters for both teams right now. Being slick is a bonus.

And Sandaza was probably nowhere near the worst. Actually did OK for himself in Spain.

No - the premise is not really similar at all.
I know you couldn't help yourself with a snidey comparison to Rangers' run to the UEFA Cup Final though.
League games - mostly you accept that you are going to drop points in a few games during the routine of a league campaign. You accept it but give it a go as you know you will have winnable games against those sides at your level.
UEFA Cup (or any other renowned Cup) - You set things up against a superior side to at least give yourself half a chance (and perhaps a bit of luck) as you only have 2 matches in the tie and 1 if you are lucky enough to make the final.

I think the point he's making is that the bottom line is you get the job done and you'll be satisfied enough, three points or progressing to next round. It's really all that matters everything else is decoration.

Not really. You get plenty of chances in the SPFL to get enough points to avoid relegation (or make the European places) over the course of a season. All managers know which matches where it is a free hit (playing Celtic or Rangers) as you are expected to lose.
In the UEFA or any other knockout competition, you don't - especially if you come out of the Group Stages. It is a knock-out environment so you try and set your side up accordingly as there is no return.

St Mirrens set up is expected. They go away to us and Celtic a couple games a season. Play to get beat or play to try steal something. Makes sense for them.
This is reality for us now that teams know we’re good again.
