A win is a win is a win

but the performance again left a lot to be desired. One or two decent performers, but a lot, and I mean a lot of very, very poor performers on the night.

Serge Aurier was the stand out performer for me, with Lo Celso not far behind. Aurier looks just about the most comfortable Spurs player with the ball at his feet, great going forward, and defending well when called to do so. Lo Celso had a very decent game as well. Dele OK in patches. Good to see Hugo back as well, in his new kit.

Now for the downside, yes I know Son scored the winner, but he was truly dreadful throughout the night, as was Moura and Lamela. Three of our senior players that played so poorly, so easily knocked off the ball, no real fight, just awful performances. I don`t think these three can play all at the same time, same as Winks, Dier and Sissoko are a complete misfit. Sessignon as well was very poor, not sure he is ready just yet, but he is still only young, so will give him a bit of time. The left back spot is a real problem. Rose, Tanganga, Verts and Sessignon none have covered themselves in glory at left back this season. Let`s hope Davies comes back and at least plays his usual steady eddie type of game.

Oh and not in a million years was that a penalty, Spurs done over by VAR again.

Need a striker in very, very quickly, no question about that. Marks out of 10

Lloris 6
Aurier 8
Toby 6
Verts 6
Sessignon 3
Winks 5
Lamela 3
Lo Celso 7
Dele 6
Moura 3
Son 4

Crowd 58,000 (real attendance) plus again for a team that are not in great form is brilliant for a midweek game against the team at the bottom of the table. 10/10

Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Sheffield United have all failed to win this week, so not all bad. COYS

I thought I saw glimpses of what we could do with this team. We’ve carved them open in multiple times. Lo Celso was an absolute master of the midfield. The best player by far. He was dragged to the rings and that reduced his effectiveness thereafter.

Need a striker badly. A target upfront
Onwards and upwards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs badly need a real ball winner to play alongside Lo Celso. Winks is not up to it, and Ndombele is always injured. A new midfield enforcer is badly needed, one that can break up the opposition attacks. New striker and left back also urgently needed. Jose obviously knows that as well, so expect some movement in his window, with his main purchases probably waiting until the Summer.

Big clearout coming up I can see that happening. To many lightweight and injury prone players, need players with more strength.

Agreed. Dier is painful to watch.

Spurs currently have to many lightweight players that are easily brushed off the ball. Lamela, Moura, Son, Dele, Winks, etc

3 months ago we had a very good squad of internationals and it was all Poch's fault they were under performing, now today we have a lightweight squad and need a clear out.

I don't get this argument at all?

The rot set in under Poch and Jose should be given a bit of time to try and sort it out. As I've said many times I don't know if he is the right fit for us but I'm happy to give him a chance.

We've hardly set the world alight recently but we are 8 places higher in the table than we were when Poch left and are still in the Cup and cl.

Great gate again last night over 58k against the bottom team for a mid week game.

Spurs need a massive clearout, yes Spurs have lots of Internationals, but most are not stepping up to the plate. So you need to change them.

Three months ago Spurs were heading towards the bottom three, they now sit 6th, so whilst still not brilliant, a lot better than it was three months ago, but changes are clearly needed.

Exactly my thoughts mate, we know there is a major rebuild needed, the team of four seasons ago is finished. Shame a lot of our fans cannot see that. Toby, Verts, Rose, Dier etc are just not going to get better, they all need replacing over the next season or two.

Aurier did ok but Lo Celso was the best on the park last night. Well done to Lloris as well, didn't get too many asks but was pretty assured for a change. Son, Lucas and Lamela were very weak. Not a penalty for me, there was clear air between the feet on supposed contact and I thought the number 14, should have been red carded for that tackle on Lamela. Irrelevant it hit Erics calf, if that was a side on tackle, his leg would have been snapped clean through. The guys foot was 12" off the ground, studs showing and he left it there in the slide.

Son was awful yet again, despite his goal from half a yard. I credit him being in right place at right time though. However that dumb red card which facked is over over Xmas seems to have taken all the momentum out his game. Probably serves him right for being a petulant caaaant in the Chelsea game. He gets an absolute free ride from our fans because he scores a worldy 3 times a season.

It is rumored that 6 Prem teams are after Danny Rose....
So, if you want Davies as a replacement ......
beware what you wish for.
Personally I think Rose has a couple of good years left, and he's a lot better than Davies.
