Simon Stone: sickening Woodward sycophant

Here speaks a man who is desperate not to lose his access. Can’t say a bad word about Woodward or the Glazers.

“Manchester United would like to make signings this month... The problem is that finding the right players at the right price is notoriously difficult in January... while it is fine for supporters to demand something, the people running the club must decide whether the price is worth paying."

“Manchester United do have money. But not so much they are willing to spend it without thinking of the consequences. A lot has been made of United's debt... yet, money - lots of it - has been spent in the transfer market."

“Young's departure is in line with the decisions to let go Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez - albeit on loan - Matteo Darmian and others. I don't think most fans have an issue with that."

“Woodward was a key figure in getting the Glazer family takeover through in the first place. He has presided over the rise of the club commercially and it means the Glazers now own an extraordinarily valuable asset. I think the issue is more about whether Woodward reacts to the criticism being aimed at him. I have met him. He is a warm, friendly, likeable person. I don't think anyone would like the stuff being sung about him at the moment."

“Where we are now just leaves United open to criticism as most people think they need a director of football. That is not necessarily true. What they need to do is get their recruitment right. That may involve a director of football, it may not."

sorry but in the early to mid seventies you narrowly avoided relegation...then got relegated...the played in the second division.

That was in no way similar to today.

......

You quite clearly were not a United fan at that time that can see the similarities.

It is probably best you don’t show Trump like ignorance on the subject.

Clue. It isn’t about relegation but the way the club was being run back then. We have made the same mistakes after SAF as we did Sir Matt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here we go with the insults again. Just stick to the point.

You have now decided that we're talking about how the club is run. I'm not talking about that. I've never mentioned that.

That's not worth discussing as its clear that the club is not being run in a way that will improve your chances of success on the pitch.

You've said that my 'facts' have been disputed other posters.

Here are the main facts that I have stated on this thread.

1 that almost 50% of the trophies ever won by the club were won under one manager (btw..he's possibly the greatest manager in the history of the game...and btw no other major global club are in the same situation)

2 Your second most successful managerwinn 8 trophies in 25 years and things went downhill very rapidly after his tenure

3 that the situation United are in will not change without drastic action as it's not an unusual situation for United to be in (ie..not really challenging for major honours)

Happy for you to dispute any of those points.

Furthermore, you dispute that the current situation is not the norm for United. I say that it clearly is.

I base this on the fact that outside of the Ferguson era (before and since) you have been champions of England only 7 times in around 100 attempts.

In your first 50 years, you were only champions twice!

Outside the Busby and Fergison eras, you've been relegated more times than you've been champions.

So the idea that some United fans have..,that you're a big club that is entitled to expect to compete and who are doing badly at the moment is incorrect. It's just the norm over your history.

If you don’t want to be compared with ignorance on a subject don’t show it.

So you think that normal for us is what happened in our first 50 years. And not the last 50.

Glad we have that sorted.

Just admit that you're struggling. No shame in it.

You will have to put up a much better case than this to have me say I am wrong.

Thinking out first 50 years is the norm is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on here.

Maybe you should stop doing drugs.

I never use drugs.

The SAF effect has distorted United fans' views of their club.

He did similar with Aberdeen...took a team that had no real history of success and made them champions. Winning two European trophies with that club is perhaps the greates achievement by any manager ever.

He transformed United. Fact is that outside of his tenure United were champions only 7 times. You are now back into a normal cycle. Whether you improve again is open to question.

No it has not.

..........................

7 titles, 6 FA Cups and 1 EU cup. Other than Liverpool, when SAF took over, you wiull find very few with more success than that. Villa possibly.

The thing is, and where you fall down, is that you can't ignore the success we had with SAF.

If you strike the years that SAF was in charge of United from the record completely, only Liverpool are the more successful English club considering FA, UEFA and FIFA titles and cups.

Arsenal would be third, followed by Chelsea. After that you’ve got more or less a tie between Spurs, Everton and Villa.
