Fabulous weekend for Celtic in the title race, now 5 points clear and 5 clear in GD, Rangers of course have a game in hand that won't be played until late March, early April.
All of that being said, it's important we don't mask over our own shortcomings right now.
Lets be brutally honest, Ross County should have been up by 2 goals at half time on Saturday. The fact they missed 3/4 gilt edged chances worked to our advantage but the fact they created that many in the first half, along with 2 or 3 in the 2nd half shows that we are still miles off it.
The first half overall was the worst since the Deila days, it was slow,predictable, side to side passing and with no real plan as to how we were meant to break County down.
James Forrest came back in and he'd have been as well sitting up next to me for all that he offered that first half. Leigh Griffiths reminded everyone just how poor he can be, albeit he didn't get great service at times. Mikey Johnstone's decision making was awful but he was and did look the only one capable of creating something.
The least said about the fraud at right back the better, how he made it as a footballer is beyond me. He's 3rd choice for a reason though, as should be, but isnt Johnny Hayes, good old Johnny eh, full of work rate but the technical ability of a 4 year old, woeful.
Now, onto the positives, we got the pen at half time, it appeared soft to me but we were denied a stonewaller 10 minutes earlier so justice done.
2nd half we started slow again but on came the man to settle the 3 points, French Eddy, we're running out of words to describe him but even for him, cominig on and getting 2 goal in 5 mins after coming on just shows what he brings to the team. It's not just his goals, his overall play is just a class above anything else in this country, he should have had an assist too if Johnstone didn't sheidt the bed when 7 yards out.
Nonetheless, it was a big 3 points as we now enter 3 away games in 7 days, St Johnstone, Hamilton & Motherwell. No less than 9 points, simple as that, 3 1-0 wins would suffice but we must win at all costs.
Soro should begin training over the next few days which is a boost and Lennon said we'll definietly get 1 more in the door but he's hoping for 2. Hopefully one of them is Benkovic, we need a centre half and a winger.
Yesterday at Tynecastle was a welcome sight, Rangers ragdolled for majority of the game and an Ex Rangers man and a good tim doing the damage, you love to see it. Credit to Hearts, they look a much better side under Stendel and Boyce is a terrific signing.
Anyway, shall we see Dennis, Bateman, DC1972 and big old Laudrup today? Time will tell gents, time will tell
