History repeats .....

Looking at the list of threads it’s quite clear there is a large section of the spurs support who can’t abide Jose or his football
I often wonder what it would have looked like if we had the internet in 1998 when George Graham rocked up at WHL!!
He was also lambasted for negative footy, I seem to recall it being much worse than what we are seeing now, I distinctly remember us having 3 goalles draws in a row and then next 2 games just 1 goal in them
Awful stuff. But.....we did actually go on to win a cup at the end of his first season.........
I’d take a repeat all day long . Pretty football is grand and all, but we’ve looked good last 5 years with nothing to show for it

It’s still spending £140m on new players and only £20m less than he spent at Madrid

Well I doubt he did anything as its not his job to negotiate transfers,

But inter got 20 million euro cash and eto for him.

But it’s still a big budget regardless of how the money was made.

yeah I'm with Boss here.

You want to watch attractive football, the sort that gets you excited, the sort that makes you want to go games. That's what this club has historically been about, and what Poch brought, and it was the best few years that I've had as a spurs fan.

I know Poch has gone and think it was the right decision, but that doesn't mean I suddenly want to watch boring long ball football just so we can win the FA cup, which let's be honest, is forgotten about by the next year.

In his prime, Mourinho set his teams up to be defensively solid but also to be dangerous and exciting on the counter. That's what I hope he gets us to do. And if we can win something at the same time even better.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

TBH under Poch we were seeing some pretty boring possession football, pass pass pass but never breaking down teams.

I think its hard to know with Jose whether what we have seen so far is what we will get from now on or whether we will develop greater levels of possession and control. I would be baffled to see the likes of Winks, NDombele, GLC, Alli, SOn, Lucas on the pitch for the rest of the season and not see us develop our game further.

We have already seem some progression - first few weeks all goal kicks went long. Now we're back to those little passes out from the back, from time to time.

Its the lack of pressing and stand-off tactic that bothers me more, especially vs the better teams - Teams like Wolves and even Watcford had a go a Liverpool and really should have got something from the game....we did in the final 20 minutes but seem reluctant to go for it before then, and only because we were losing. It's that negativity that i do not like. I think a defensive mindset inhibits players, they become less likely to take a risk, be creative & imaginative in their play. When a team presses effectively their minds are switched on and its a positive thing as they strive to regain possession. When a team just retreats when they lose the ball it's far more negative, less proactive and this sort of mind set follows through into the attacking play - slow, lacking energy & drive.

I am not adverse to a bit of long ball, mixed tactics are useful and with our pace up top this can force the back line back a bit and create some space in the middle to play....it just needs to be better directed IMO, more down the channels, between CB and FB because Son and Lucas aint going too win many headers.

It does vary from source to source.

either way he wasnt exactly spending huge sums without bringing in the money.

I doubt he will at spurs either, it seems the decision has been made to follow the arsenal model when repaying the stadium off. something that I suspect levy will come to regret if he isnt already.

you desperately need players bought in.
