Ahh just in time to release this news as the transfer window is drawing to a close to show Utd are going to get a DoF but really, its to keep the fans happy they're doing something. This is just typical Utd, does anyone even believe this stuff any more.

Are you? Ed recently hired a well known and very connected journo as his new PR guy. Be prepared to see even more of these stories

Utd do this every year, even in the summer, as soon as the window closed, there were reports Utd are looking at hiring a technical director, then after a few weeks it all goes quiet, rinse and repeat. Basically, its click bait, no matter how $hit we are, with the following we have, if there's some sort of reports that we are after a specific player, DoF, TD, tea lady, bog cleaner or whatever, just release some rumors and boom, millions of clicks and they money.

What sort of fan would get excited about a DoF? I mean seriously

We've heard DOF and transfer consortium rumours for some time now, it seems unlikely.

I do wonder what power a DOF would have in a room full of banking, business and marketing minds anyway.

Chelsea’s former technical director, Michael Emenalo, is unemployed at the moment, if we had genuine ambition in getting someone fo fill a similar role at OT we’d be going for him. Experienced in the role, knows the PL, he helped bring the likes of Kante, Costs, Willian, Azpilicueta and Fabregas to Chelsea.
